Erin, BG’s Lead gardener teaching a sold-out flower arranging class. The woman in the blue jacket was celebrating her 102nd birthday. Her daughter sleuthed out this event because her Mom is a life long lover of flowers and of arranging them. They both had a great time but mom felt displeased with her arrangement by the end to the class so Erin sent her home with the bucket of remaining flowers. Wish we could have seen the final product. It was a lovely event.

Have you met our Artist in Residence, Aislinn Hird?
Artist’s Log 02:
I was pulled with the gravity of running water to draw at the Tea House next. There was so much I wished to include: spring ephemerals, orchid-cousins, exposed bedrock, and the bursting varieties of Japanese maples, hosta lilies and mayapples; it took me extra time to compose it all harmoniously. The pace of my drawing allowed me to languor in the cool peace beside the Petit Pond, a perfect spot for the heat of early august. I was blessed to share this space with a conference of frogs, an (unpictured) clan of koi, and many wonderful visitors. The composition that decided itself for my second painting celebrates that quiet sharing, with a spirit-house-shaped tribute to the residents of these precious grounds.
