Last week, we were pleased to welcome Dorsey Newcomb, Executive Director of the Leonard Wood Institute, as our guest speaker.

Dorsey provided an informative update on the many initiatives taking place at Fort Leonard Wood and throughout our region that support military readiness, workforce development, economic growth, and community partnerships. His presentation highlighted the important role Fort Leonard Wood and the Sustainable Ozarks Partnership play not only in national defense, but also as a vital economic and community partner for the entire region.

We appreciate Dorsey taking the time to share insights on current projects, future opportunities, and the continued collaboration between military and civilian communities that helps strengthen our region.

Thank you, Dorsey, for keeping us informed and for the work the Leonard Wood Institute does to support Fort Leonard Wood and the communities that surround it.

Thursday, the Lebanon Rotary Club had the honor of awarding the Melva Palmer Ellis Memorial Scholarship to an outstanding group of local seniors.

This scholarship was established in 1979 by Stanley Williams in memory of his mother, Melva Palmer Ellis, who believed deeply in education and the importance of supporting future educators. Over the past 45 years, more than $260,000 has been awarded to students through this program.

This year, nine deserving seniors each received a $1,000 scholarship:

Abbie Bertoldie
Brayden Christian
Bailey Cromer
Zoey Durbin
Lillian Letterman
Samantha Redick
Gracen Ruble
Mallory Grace Shaw
Colton Tapp

We are proud to continue this legacy and support these students as they take the next step in their journey.

Congratulations to each of you. Your hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and we look forward to seeing what you accomplish next.
