Lately - for reasons you don't have to work hard to imagine- I cherish special spots I find- oases of deep shade. Different from the shade from some trees. These places have a dense canopy overhead, so dense, and sometimes very wide, so that the temperature is noticeably cooler and I feel great relief.
When I was a child there was a route my mom sometimes took to another town that passed through what felt like a tunnel of shade, in a stretch of road crossed overhead by a connected and dense canopy of trees from both sides. It was before seatbelts (don't try this, young people) and I remember laying on the backseat on very hot days, begging my mom to drive that way.
Do you have a story of a favorite experience of finding shade?
