Whenever I help at NUTS, I always find at least one thing to buy:) And since I have a thing for coffee and coffee mugs plus my morning ritual with Foster Sam has also broken a few mugs lately, why not! And how appropriate! I am a huge fan of our resale stores. They have been a way to raise money for Good Sam, a way to employ people, a way to also help our clients, plus also a way to get rid of donations that are more wants vs needs… car top carriers, deer stands, golf clubs, etc. I’ll be working today and tomorrow helping 10am-5pm, come see me (if you haven’t already)!

Good Sam has been working hard to get our new ovens and stove tops installed (new gas lines, upgraded fire suppression system, and some other general renovations) but in the meantime while we can’t serve our normal 250/300 meals per day, we are packaging 50-70 meals daily to meet the immediate need of homeless in the general vicinity of the community kitchen. That includes all the people staying at the Salvation Army shelter that must leave during the day and do not have an option for lunch. Here is a sampling of what we served the last couple weeks. The goal is always “food so good you’d pay for it BUT it’s free”! We are still needing monetary donations to secure a Hobart style dishwasher and a walk in frig/freezer unit! Ms. Beverly and staff are at both Walmart with Laurel Police Department and Grocery Depot with Dixie Electric. Come see us and help fill our food pantry as we help families in greater crisis than ever!

We LOVE working with the United States Post Office in Laurel during their annual food drive. The postal service mail carriers always go the extra mile to gather the donated items and get them back to the post office for our staff and volunteers to pickup! This year was NO exception and we will be able to help a large number of families with what was collected! Thank you US Postal Service❤️

Both our soup kitchen and food pantry are closed today because of the weather. While we don’t make these decisions lightly, we encourage folks to stay home and stay safe. We will be back open as soon as we can!
