Broken Promises SW Broken Promises is a 501(c)(3) organization seeking to end animal overpopulation through TNR.

Broken Promises SW is a non-profit organization that humanely addresses community cat overpopulation issues through Trap/Neuter/Return. We operate a small sanctuary that is home to pigeons, doves, hens, and a turkey - all of whom were injured or have other special needs that make them unreleasable, or who found themselves in terrible situations and needed a safe place to live their lives.

ADOPTED!

Top left shows Tommy’s intake picture at Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley where he was brought in with a re**al prolapse. We immediately agreed to pull him and brought him to the fantastic Schumacher Veterinary Clinic where a purse string suture was placed and other medical issues were evaluated.

Over his time with us, Tommy recovered beautifully from the prolapse and got two much-needed dental procedures. He is a volunteer favorite with his sweet nature and completely irresistible pink tongue!

Which brings us to today - he went home with a lovely woman who happens to be friends with one of our longtime, dedicated volunteers! She has always had cats but went through some pretty big changes that meant it wasn’t quite the right time - until today. Tommy is going to a lovely home filled with joy, sunlight, and lots of places to nap! We hope, as always, that this is his perfect forever. Huge congrats to Tommy and his awesome new mama!

We love when this happens. We trapped this kitty so fast, we didn’t have the time to tell you guys that we were out here. As soon as we put the trap down, this little guy ran right in. The entire effort took less than five minutes. As you can see in the photo, s/he’s got a little bit of a wonky left eye, so we will get the opinion of the vet on that.

This is Cherry Pie. A couple of years ago we spayed her and returned her to her caregiver, but since then she's fallen on a little bad luck. Thanks to her microchip, we received a call from the shelter saying that she had been surrendered due to her caregiver passing away. So we took in this shy but friendly little girl and she's currently in foster, waiting for a space to open up at our adoption cattery in PetSmart so she can be put up for adoption. If you're interested in adding this little girl to your home and making both your lives so much better, please send us a PM so we can get an application to you ASAP.

Good evening friends! It’s been a while since we’ve posted, but we’ve been busy with the cats and the sanctuary, and now we are getting back to trapping. We’re out at a colony we have been visiting for a while, and there are still several cats here left to catch. We are all set up and they should be coming around soon. Neuter day Tuesday, so we will see who we get.

Remember 15 year old Skittles who found herself at the local shelter after her human passed away? Today she went to a brand new home and we could not be more thrilled. For now she is still a foster due to ongoing medical needs but we don’t think she’ll be going anywhere. ❤️ We were contacted by a lovely woman whose mom was interested in bringing our senior girl home. After some discussion it seemed like a perfect fit. Yesterday Skittles went to the vet for a dental but her doctor decided it was in her best interest to delay such a big procedure for now since Skittles is so frail and now has some kidney abnormalities in her bloodwork. Did that scare off her new mom? Nope! Whether Skittles has years or months, her new family only wants one thing - for her to be loved! So now she is in a gorgeous, peaceful home where she can begin to settle in and be spoiled every day and rule the roost! We are so happy for this next part of her journey. Senior cats are just the best and she wants nothing more than to give and receive love. Huge congrats to Skittles and her beautiful new mama!

Jack (or maybe Jill) says hello. He's kitty #16 of a 17-cat colony north of town, and we've got only 1 more boy to go! Jack/Jill was trapped by the colony caregiver, after we gave them lessons on how to use the drop trap. We LOVE when caregivers help us get their kitties TNR'd. We have a new pigeon at our Tucson sanctuary. This guy was taken in by the Tucson Wildlife Center, but he has neurological problems that render him unreleasable. Fortunately, he will be able to live with our resident birds at our sanctuary. Welcome little man. We love you already.
