MVAS Nature Journal Club

MVAS Nature Journal Club The MVAS Nature Journal Club is part of the Mesilla Valley Audubon Society.

This is an opportunity for anyone in the Mesilla Valley to join us to connect with nature through words, pictures, and numbers. MVAS Nature Journal Club is a group hosted by the Mesilla Valley Audubon Society, a chapter of the National Audubon Society. We are inspired by nature journaling leader, naturalist, and educator John Muir Laws and the Wild Wonder Foundation. We plan to meet monthly to enc

ourage nature journaling in our area and welcome beginners and experience nature journalers. Nature journaling uses words, pictures, and numbers to record observations and to create a deeper connection with nature.

We had a warm morning of nature journaling at the Baylor Canyon windmill, watched over by cattle (we were unfortunately blocking their access to the water tanks). Saw a cool dung beetle and some butterflies, but most of us painted the windmill and Organ Mountains.

We had a fun morning journaling at Sierra Vista Growers today. Most folks sketched the lovely plants in the front, plus Swallowtail Butterfly caterpillars 🐛. We wrapped up the morning with lunch at Icebox 28 since the onsite cafe is currently closed for repairs. Welcome to our newest members!
