Supporting healthy development starts with giving families access to the right tools and resources. 💙

On Tuesday, October 6, families with children under age 5 were invited to the Main Library in West Palm Beach for a FREE developmental screening event.

Through 211’s Help Me Grow program, families can access free developmental screenings, learn more about their child’s milestones and connect with community resources that support healthy growth and development.

From communication and motor skills to problem-solving, social skills and behavior, developmental screenings help parents and caregivers better understand how their children are progressing and identify areas where additional support may be helpful.

And the support doesn’t end with one event! Help Me Grow provides ongoing guidance, care coordination and connections to resources for families with young children.

An important 211 service is expanding to Martin County.

211’s Elder Crisis Outreach (ECO) program is now available to Martin County residents ages 60 and older, extending a service previously available only in Palm Beach County.

When an older adult is facing grief, isolation, financial hardship, loss of independence, emotional distress or another crisis, knowing where to turn can make all the difference. ECO provides crisis counseling, needs assessments, connections to community services, advocacy, follow-up and more for older adults, their families and caregivers.

We are grateful to the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties for the new funding support that made this expansion possible.

Need help for yourself or someone you care about? Call 2-1-1 and ask for the Elder Crisis Outreach program.

A tragic loss in our Treasure Coast community is bringing an important conversation about su***de prevention to the forefront.

Following the death by su***de of former Fox News producer and podcaster Jennifer Eckert in Martin County, WPBF 25 News News spoke with Elizabeth Burrows of 211 Palm Beach & Treasure Coast about what we can do when someone we know may be struggling.

Her message is especially important as we continue to recognize Su***de Prevention Awareness Month: It’s OK to ask.

Asking someone if they are thinking about su***de does not increase their risk. It lets them know they are not alone. Being present, listening and helping someone connect with support can make a difference.

“Never give up. As long as someone is still here, there is still an opportunity to support and assist them.”

Watch the WPBF 25 News story and hear Elizabeth’s message.

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available 24/7. Call 211 for local support and resources, or call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
