More babies and toddlers are on screens and many parents say they’re not feeling great about it.

A new Pew Research Center study found that:
➡️ 62% of parents say their child under 2 watches YouTube (up from 45% in 2020)
➡️ 35% say their baby or toddler watches YouTube every day
➡️ TV use among the same group is up, too—from 63% in 2020 to 82% in 2025

Even though screen use is often parent-led, Pew also found that screen time is causing anxiety for many caregivers. A quarter of parents with children under 2 said they feel they could do better managing it.

ZERO TO THREE’s own Rebecca Parlakian spoke with Washington Post about these findings and what they tell us about the real-life challenges families face.
