On October 19, we had the honor of witnessing our chapter member, Dr. Connie Hampton, being sworn in as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Augusta VA Medical Center.

We are incredibly proud of Dr. Hampton as she steps into this new leadership role and continues her commitment to serving our nation’s Veterans.

Please join us in congratulating her on this remarkable achievement and wishing her continued success as she leads, serves, and makes an impact.

During this Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we gathered not only to raise our consciousness about our health and well-being, but also to renew our commitment to one another, our chapter, and the communities we are privileged to serve.⁣
⁣
The LaGrange (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was honored to welcome the 11th National President of The Links, Incorporated, Patricia Russell-McCloud, Esq., who served as National President from 1994 to 1998. An international motivational speaker, trainer, best-selling author, spiritual-leader and attorney, Madam 11th joined us for an unforgettable afternoon of reflection, connection, and growth.⁣
⁣
She led us through “And This I Promise: Leadership, Courage, Sisterhood, and Legacy,” a riveting three-hour interactive workshop that challenged us to think deeply about how we lead, how we show up for one another, and the legacy we are creating through our service and sisterhood.⁣
Using her “Key Notes” Elevation Card Deck as part of the experience, she transformed the room into a space for meaningful conversation, laughter, introspection, and honest reflection. We were reminded that leadership is not simply about the positions we hold. It is about the promises we make, the courage with which we keep them, and the impact we leave behind.⁣
⁣
And as we observed Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we were also reminded that caring for ourselves is essential to our ability to care for others. Our health matters. Our friendship matters. Our service matters.⁣
⁣
We left the room encouraged, challenged, connected, and even more intentional about the promises we make to ourselves, to each other, and to the communities we serve.⁣
⁣
Here’s to leadership with courage, sisterhood with purpose, and a legacy worthy of those who came before us. 💚⁣

Today we walked for healthy living! ⁣
⁣
And what a day it was.⁣
⁣
Our chapter joined with families, friends, community organizations, health professionals, and advocates at Southbend Park in downtown LaGrange for our 31st Annual Walk for Healthy Living.⁣
⁣
And while we came to get our steps in, the morning was about so much more than walking.⁣
⁣
Throughout the morning, we focused on the many ways we can take an active role in our health and well-being. Attendees received on-site blood pressure checks led by VA nursing staff, while health professionals shared the benefits of regular movement and walking, especially as we age, and the important role physical activity can play in supporting cardiovascular health.⁣
⁣
We also talked about what we put on our plates. Agriculture expert Dr. Jean Keel shared the importance of “food as medicine” and encouraged us to think about how the foods we grow and eat can be part of a healthier lifestyle. And she didn’t just send us home with information. Attendees received seeds to plant their own corn and greens, taking a little piece of the day home with them.⁣
⁣
And, of course, you can’t talk about healthy living without getting people moving. Music artist and dancer Robert Anthony got everybody on their feet with line dancing, while DJ DELO kept the energy going on the ones and twos.⁣
⁣
Because healthy communities are also informed and engaged communities, our chapter provided voter education in advance of the upcoming election, encouraging everyone to be informed, prepared, and ready to participate.⁣
⁣
But one of the best parts of the day was seeing who showed up. Families, friends, community partners, neighbors, and generations.⁣
⁣
From Gen-Beta to Baby Boomers and everybody in between, it was truly an intergenerational celebration of health, movement, education, connection, and community.⁣
⁣
For 31 years, the has brought people together around a simple idea: healthier communities are built when we take care of ourselves and one another.
