New rockdogs have been welcomed here. A male Russian, also a small, medium and large Sulcata. I've been working on updating all outdoor enclosures. Planting clover and dandelion seeds and a general clean up. Now only if the weather would cooperate and stay warm enough so they can all move outdoors. It's my favorite time of year. They get natural sunlight and graze all day.

So many great tips here on keeping turtles and tortoises. These pointers are not just for baby torts. Worth the watch.

Most tortoises aren’t lazy. They’re bored, cold, or stressed.
And the culprit? A habitat that looks pretty to you but feels wrong to them.
Wrote a full breakdown on how to fix this with stuff that actually works.

This is an example of aggression in a large male Sulcata tortoise. Sulcatas have huge personalities and can be quite destructive. Just like people, personalities can vary. 😉
Please do research before adopting. Consider time, how much space they need now vs full grown, how much they eat and what they eat. Sulcatas can go from fitting in the palm of your hand to 30+ pounds in a handful of years. Full grown they can reach over 150 pounds and 3 feet in diameter. And they live a very long time if well cared for.

I want to take a moment to thank the MANY kind and patient people who reach out with interest in adopting or supporting our tortoise rescue. Your enthusiasm and love for these animals keep us going! 🐢💚

That said, I get over 100+ messages every week across multiple platforms. Between daily care for the animals, vet visits, supply runs, and the rest of real life (like being out of town last week AND working FULLTIME), sometimes responses take time. Not because I don’t care—but because I do. I want to give every inquiry the attention it deserves.

To the folks who message, wait a few days, and then send something rude or sarcastic before blocking me: Tortoise ownership isn’t for everyone. If you can’t wait a few days for a reply, you definitely won’t enjoy waiting 20 years for your tortoise to walk across the yard. 😅

Our rescue is built on patience, compassion, and commitment. And that starts with the people we adopt out to.

Thank you again to those who get it. You're the reason we’re able to keep doing what we do. ❤️🐢
AND if you are waiting for a reply, please send me another message. Your last message is likely buried. FB messenger doesn't have a great way to organize these messages.

Upate: Adopted!
This gorgeous adult male Redfoot is ready for adoption. Please do your research prior to contacting me. Binge watch Youtube videos. Consider indoor and outdoor space for enclosures. NO GLASS AQUARIUMS! He needs a minimum space of 6ft, the bigger the better. Pick up in Lancaster today, Sunday before 1230 or Monday! Please message me, serious inquiries only.

Update! Adopted to an educational ambassador program with another rescue/sanctuary!
The Triplets! Well, not from the same egg, but the same clutch. Munching on some greens. Sulcatas get big. Really big! They will require a very secure fenced yard, sun and deep shade. They are little lawn mowers. They mainly eat grass and the more room they have the better. Winter months will need to be indoors or even better a large heated shed. Watch youtube videos on Sulcatas for care, enclosure and space ideas. They can be wonderful pets but have very specific care requirements and space needs. 🐢🐢🐢
