Love King Bumi and his insect-eating friends here at the Wildlife Center? 🪱🐜 Consider sending some dried mealworms, special diets, or any other animal care supplies from our Amazon Wish List: https://a.co/8aI2szg 🎁

These scrumptious, crunchy beetle larvae are a favorite of Bumi’s and our other insect eaters - and they make the perfect nutritious snack.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone happy, healthy, and well fed! 💚👑

A very tiny and very proud dad ❤️

Cotton-topped tamarin dads are famous for helping raise their babies, and Einstein is doing an amazing job with one of his newest twins. From carrying little ones on his back to keeping a watchful eye on the family, he’s proving that great dads come in all sizes.

We can’t get enough of these precious moments! Plus, watch till the end for a special tongue-out-Tuesday feature! 🤣🐒

🌟 Team Member Tuesday 🌟

This week, we’re excited to introduce the newest member of our team, Glenn, who recently joined the Wildlife Center as our Facilities Technician!

Glenn was born and raised in southeast Virginia and grew up with an older brother and a younger sister. He is a proud father of four daughters and grandfather to three grandsons. His family is especially celebrating today, as his parents mark an incredible 58 years of marriage!

With a wealth of experience and a strong work ethic, Glenn brings valuable expertise to our team. He also has a lifelong love for animals, making him a wonderful fit for the Wildlife Center family.

We are thrilled to have Glenn on board and look forward to all the great things he will help us accomplish. Be sure to give him a warm welcome when you see him around the Wildlife Center!

Feathers are one of nature’s most incredible adaptations. They help birds fly, stay warm, communicate, attract mates, and even stay dry. In fact, no other living group of animals on Earth has true feathers - making them one of the features that makes birds so unique.

The next time you visit the Wildlife Center, take a closer look at the amazing variety of feathers on display. From the soft down of an owl to the brilliant colors of a macaw, every feather tells a story.

We are excited to celebrate an exciting development here at the Wildlife Center - and this one isn’t animal related!

After a long time spent planning, fundraising, and working toward this goal, our beautiful new perimeter fence is officially complete. Seeing this long-awaited project finally come to life is incredibly rewarding for our team.

Combined with our surveillance camera system and other improvements, this investment helps strengthen the safety, security, and overall operation of the Wildlife Center.

While it may not be as exciting as a new animal arrival, projects like this play an important role in supporting our mission. Thank you to everyone who has helped make it possible - and stay tuned, because there is much more to come!

A huge thank you goes to Ryan Flynt and Flynt Services LLC for their outstanding work on this project. We are grateful for their professionalism, high-quality workmanship, and exceptional value throughout the entire process.

Join us in officially welcoming the newest member of our tamarin family, Ruby, a beautiful golden-handed tamarin!

Ruby recently arrived at the Wildlife Center and is settling in wonderfully. We’re excited to share that she is getting along incredibly well with our male golden-handed tamarin, Ember, and the two have already been spending time together and getting to know one another.

Golden-handed tamarins are small, social primates native to northern South America, known for their striking golden-orange hands and feet, curious personalities, and strong family bonds. We look forward to watching Ruby and Ember continue to build their relationship and become a fantastic ambassador pair for their species.

Be sure to say hello to Ruby during your next visit to the Wildlife Center! 🐒🧡
