🐾 Help Us Reach 200 for Thomasville Humane!

To celebrate our community’s Bicentennial, we’re collecting donations of pet supplies for Thomasville Humane!

We’re proud to partner with Thomasville Humane through their Doggie Day Out program, which gives adoptable dogs the opportunity to spend a day away from the shelter and enjoy a FREE walk around the beautiful grounds of Pebble Hill. It’s a wonderful chance for these dogs to experience new surroundings, meet new friends, and hopefully catch the eye of their future forever family.

Our goal is to collect 200 pet supply items on Saturday, August 29 in honor of our community’s 200th birthday!

Throughout August, Quail Forever in Florida has been busy connecting with landowners, students, and conservation partners through events across the panhandle!

We enjoyed attending the Bear Creek Back to School Bash in Quincy, FL, where we taught local students about the importance of conservation and healthy wildlife habitat.

Last week, we also had the opportunity to table at the FWC Panhandle Landowner Expo in DeFuniak Springs, FL. It was great to reconnect with landowners we’ve worked with in the past and meet new landowners looking for conservation assistance on their properties.

We’re grateful for every opportunity to connect with our communities and promote conservation across Florida!

Florida landowners interested in aligning their land uses with conservation values and practices have an opportunity to apply for Entity-Held Conservation Easements and Land Management Financial Assistance opportunities in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Alachua Conservation Trust (ACT).

Applications are due by September 30, 2026.

ACT leads two RCPP projects in North Florida: 1) Surface to Springs and 2) Forest to Gulf. These projects target conservation funding and resources to protect wildlife habitat, surface and ground water, and working grasslands and forests.

Landowners in these project areas are eligible for this conservation easement funding opportunity. Those who are within and/or touching the projects’ boundaries are eligible. The counties included (all or in part) are: Alachua, Bradford, Citrus, Columbia, Gilchrist, Hernando, Lafayette, Levy, Marion, Putnam, Sumter, Suwannee, and Union.

In addition, landowners may also apply for financial assistance to implement practices such as prescribed fire, forest thinning, rotational grazing, wildlife habitat improvement, cover crop planting and stream and shoreline protection, among others.

Due to the complex nature of these projects, landowners interested in these funding opportunities are strongly encouraged to reach out for guidance on the options available before applying. Applicants will need to take appropriate steps necessary to establish farm records and certifications.
