Hi neighbors!

Fall is here which means it's time to start prepping our gardens/lawns for winter.

The Southern Gables Neighborhood Association organizes a free service by volunteer students from Denver Christian School for our residents who are elderly or disabled. Volunteers will collect the bagged leaves (excluding evergreen needles) to be put to use as compost and mulch and leaves will be raked on November 7, 2025.

We need your help! Volunteers are needed to unload bagged leaves at the Fleischer Farm gate at 2905 S. Zephyr Ct. This will be on November 7, 2025 from 11am-1pmish. If you have any questions or are able to volunteer please email [email protected].

The City of Lakewood will be hosting FREE yard waste recycling events in every ward this fall on Saturdays 9am-1pm October 11 through Nov 8. You can find more information on locations and how to register here: https://www.lakewood.org/Government/Departments/Sustainability-and-Community-Development/Sustainability/Programs-and-Policies/Free-Yard-Waste-Recycling-Events

Happy Fall! 🍁🍂

We have heard from residents that more options are needed for yard waste disposal—and we’re excited to announce that in October and November, the City will host free yard and garden waste drop-off events.

Good morning Neighbors!

We are hosting an event this week on Wednesday 7/9/2025 at 6pm - Growing Food From Kitchen Scraps!

The event will take place at Gables School & Community Garden at 8701 W. Woodard Drive.

Our neighbor, Shannin has mentioned how she is taking the bottoms of lettuce, carrots and other vegetables and putting them into water - they then sprout and develop into edible servings. She graciously is willing to share with us her tips and tricks at this workshop. Come join us!
