Last year, we had the opportunity to participate in the Fall Parade, and it was such an amazing experience!

Seeing our players, families, coaches, and volunteers come together to represent AYSO and celebrate our community was truly special!

⚽ Soccer Basics: Understanding the Positions ⚽

Whether you're new to soccer or just need a refresher, every position on the field plays an important role!

🧤 Goalkeeper (GK) – Protects the goal and is the only player allowed to use their hands inside the penalty area.

🛡️ Defenders – Help prevent the other team from scoring and protect their goalkeeper.

🏃 Midfielders – The connection between defense and offense. They help move the ball up the field and support both ends of the game.

🎯 Forwards/Strikers – Play closest to the opponent's goal and look for opportunities to score.

Simple way to remember:
🧤 Goalkeepers stop goals.
🛡️ Defenders protect the goal.
🏃 Midfielders connect the field.
🎯 Forwards score goals.

The best teams aren't made up of just great scorers—they're made up of players working together in every position!

Here at AYSO - We use modified versions of these positions (example: not using as many defenders/midfielders - U10 usually has about 7 players) because we encourage each player to learn their position fully and we have such a wide range of players!
