Today, approximately half of the flags were picked up, bound, and taken to the storage shed. This Saturday morning is the final curtain call and we need all hands on deck one final time. We have to get all the flags from the Sumter County Fairgrounds Rodeo Pavilion boxes and taken to thee storage shed. At 9 am we will begin the process. The more volunteers, thee faster this will go. No heavy lifting required on your part. Simply grab about 20 flags, wrap thembin a bundle and place in the tote. Our young guys or even
Myself will be around to carry yar filled totes to the awaiting trailers. Bring the kids on out. Young and old, everyone is of great importance! We will see you THIS Saturday at 9 am. Bring some fluids and snacks, and make some new friends!

Se you there!

On behalf of Florida National Cemetery, the Joint Veteran's Support Committee, and Flags for Florida's Fallen of Florida National Cemetery, we would like to thank each and every volunteer, section leader, and area coordinator who took time to assist with placement of flags for Memorial Day weekend.

A HUGE thank you to those who braved the weather to assist in the pick up of all of the flags so that they can be taken to the Sumter County Fairgrounds for drying.

This Thursday, June 5th, we are looking for one final push for volunteers to assist in the banding and storing of the flags into the totes. The Sumter County Fairgrounds will be allowing us to borrow tables and chairs for easier banding of flags.

We will begin at 9 am on Thursday. The address to the fairgrounds is 7620 State Rte 471, Bushnell, FL 33513. Once arriving drive to the rear of the fairgrounds to the pavilion where the banding will begin.

Please bring your hydration of choice and old rags to wipe any excess dirt off of the dried staffs. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out through private message and we will respond as soon as possible.

Thank you to everyone who braved the weather to come out and helped to get the flags out of the cemetery and to the Sumter Counry Fairgrounds to be laid out to dry.

On Monday, we will send out and post information on specifics for assistance to help in rebinding and adding all of the flags back in to totes to store for next year. This is an ALL HANDS ON DECK call! If you have high schoolers, we can sign off on community service hours. This includes eighth graders moving up to high school this year.

Be on the look out with the next post for more information. The more volunteers we have the less work it will be for everyone.

Keep sending in your pictures from placement and pickup.
