"Well, what is Freemasonry? It is kindness in the home; honesty in business; courtesy in society; fairness in action. Freemasonry also teaches love for one another as well as reverence for and love of God. Freemasonry often uses symbols because only by them can we speak the language of the spirit. For example the trowel is an instrument we are taught to use for the purpose of spreading the cement

of Brotherly Love and affection. By the exercise of Brotherly Love we are taught to regard the whole human species as one family, the high and the low, the rich and the poor, who, as created by one almighty parent, and inhabitants of the same planet, are to aid, support and protect each other. On this principle, Masonry unites men of every country, sect and opinion, and causes true friendship to exist among those who might otherwise have remained at a perpetual distance. You might ask what can I, an average Mason, do? I'm not interested in being an officer or a committee chairman. President and Freemason Theodore Roosevelt had an answer: “I am only an average man, but, by George, I work harder at it than the average man.”

Friendship, fraternity, fellowship – the very soul of Freemasonry. True friendship within a Masonic Lodge leads to its becoming a friendly Lodge. Thus the reputation of Acalanes Fellowship as being the “Friendly Lodge”. How do I become a Mason? Ask a Mason!

RSVP Countdown for Grand Officer Reception 9/12

Hello everyone... we're just 9 days away from my upcoming Grand Officer Reception in Martinez, and I'm not sure that everyone has seen the earlier posts or the various emails that have gone out. SPAM filters can be vicious sometimes!

Time is running short, and for those of you who've mentioned to me that you're coming, we need to get your RSVP formalized in the next few days before our caterer cuts us off. And anyone else who would like to attend, there's still time and tickets are still available.

This event is open to all of my friends, family, fellow Lodge members, and my extended Masonic family – Masons and non-Masons alike. This will be an evening of friendship, fellowship, and fun! I'm looking forward to seeing each of you who can make it, and we're sure to have a blast of an evening!

STATEWIDE DAY OF SERVICE

April 17, 2025

The Grand Lodge of California celebrates its 175th Anniversary in 2025, and MW Arthur L. Salazar, Grand Master of Masons, has proclaimed April 17, 2025 as a Statewide Day of Service.

Join Acalanes Fellowship Lodge as we collect your non-perishable food items between now and the morning of April 17th for donation to one of our amazing local food banks as our service project for the California Statewide Day of Service.

You may drop off your donations at the Lodge on Tuesday, April 1st during our monthly Stated Meeting evening after 5:00 pm, or bring your donations to the Lodge at any other time.

If you don't have access to the building to drop off your food items, please email to our Lodge Secretary, Gary Sparks, PM, to coordinate drop-off at: [email protected]

Remember, Charity is the greatest of the three foundational virtues of Freemasonry, and is how we contribute to make a difference in our local communities and in the lives of our neighbors. Come play your part and join us in lending a helping hand to those less fortunate than us and those who are struggling during these difficult days of rising prices and food scarcity. Some of Acalanes Fellowship Lodge's Past Masters (and our current Master, Wor. Pete Peterson, not pictured) in full force last night at the Masters and Past Masters Association of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties 2025 Annual Convocation at Siminoff Masonic Center. And a special call out to our own Wor. Phil McAllister by Most Worshipful Arthur L. Salazar, Grand Master of Masons in California, for his mentorship and friendship over the years!

Our annual Installation of Officers was an auspicious event and a great evening with brothers, family, and friends.
