Extreme Heat Warning/Heat Advisory Thursday!

Drier conditions return today and Thursday. The combination of heat and extreme humidity leads to increasing concerns for hazardous heat Thursday through the weekend, particularly on Thursday.

An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from Noon to 8PM Thursday for the I-35 Corridor, Coastal Plains, and southern Rio Grande Plains. Heat indices between 113°
115° are expected.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from Noon to 8PM Thursday for the Hill Country, Edwards Plateau, and northern Rio Grande Plains. Heat indices between 108° and 112° are expected.

Heat related illness possible for those not taking proper precautions.

Reminder that due to the hot and humid weather uniforming will be relaxed. The “South Texas Tropical” uniform of short pants and T-shirts will be allowed. Remember that for safety closed toed shoes and eye and ear protection are still required.
