Thank you Williams Lumber in Stone Ridge for our amazing tour! We learned so much from our adventures this week and we wish we would have known about the new type of insulation before we got to work on our office! Thank you for setting up delivery for our roofing and we can't wait to order items again. PS- go check out their mistint section of paint! We plan to paint our trailer in all the mistints possible!

Join the Board of Directors for Fly The COOP, Inc.

Fly The COOP, Inc. is seeking dedicated, community-minded individuals to serve on our Board of Directors. Board members play an important role in providing governance, strategic guidance, and oversight to support the organization's mission and long-term success.

Time Commitment

* One in-person board meeting annually (approximately 2 hours)
* Bi-monthly virtual board meetings (approximately 1 hour every other month)
* Occasional email communication and review of board materials between meetings

Board service offers an opportunity to contribute your expertise, support organizational growth, and help shape the future of Fly The COOP, Inc.

Open Positions

Treasurer / Financial Board Member

The Treasurer provides financial oversight and helps ensure the organization's fiscal health and accountability.

Responsibilities:

* Review financial statements and reports
* Monitor organizational finances and budgets
* Assist with financial planning and forecasting
* Support compliance with applicable financial and reporting requirements
* Present financial updates to the Board
* Collaborate with leadership on financial policies and best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, banking, or business management
* Ability to interpret financial reports
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Secretary

The Secretary helps maintain accurate records and supports effective board governance.

Responsibilities:

* Record and maintain meeting minutes
* Maintain board records and organizational documents
* Assist with meeting scheduling and distribution of materials
* Track board actions and governance requirements
* Support communication among board members

Preferred Qualifications:

* Strong organizational and administrative skills
* Excellent written communication abilities
* Experience with recordkeeping or nonprofit governance is a plus

Board Member at Large

Board Members at Large provide strategic input, governance oversight, and support for organizational initiatives.

Responsibilities:

* Attend board meetings and actively participate in discussions
* Support strategic planning and organizational development
* Review board materials and contribute informed perspectives
* Serve as ambassadors for Fly The COOP, Inc.
* Participate in committees or special projects as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

* Commitment to the mission of Fly The COOP, Inc.
* Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
* Experience in leadership, community engagement, business, education, nonprofit work, or related fields is welcomed

We are so excited for our partners, friends and the teens and children we serve! Congrats everyone!!!

Land to Learn is proud to announce that we are a recipient of one of The Open Space Institute (OSI) 2026 Malcolm Gordon Charitable Fund Awards. This year, OSI is awarding a combined $60,500 to eleven nonprofit organizations across the Hudson River Valley. The grants will support environmental education and community-based programs that connect people to the outdoors, encourage environmental stewardship among young people, expand opportunities to grow and access fresh food, and help make nature and outdoor spaces more welcoming for everyone. Congratulations to the other award recipients: Arm-of-the-Sea Theater, Bannerman Castle Trust, Ecological Citizen's Project, Fly The COOP, Inc., Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum, Outdoor Promise Poughkeepsie Farm Project, Stony Kill Foundation, and Wild Earth Wilderness School.

Thank you again Cornell for having us at your ceramics introduction workshop! The teens had a blast working with clay, being able to mold and create handmade, one-of-a-kind ceramics! These materials are malleable, ready to be made into bowls and many other creative and useful things! Creating physical art is important, because it allows people to not only express themselves, but it also helps people potentially find a new, fulfilling hobby.

The teens have been hard at work creating personalized, collage bookmarks, as well as taking an intro to ceramics class at the Cornell arts studio! The teens are well into the new year, ready to create wonderful things!

Some beautiful painted seashells with our new logo as a sticker! The teens love working with many different materials, from clay to wood! These pieces of art help express their inner creativity. They also are working on their entrepreneurial skills, as some of these creations, like some suncatchers will be available for sale! The teens we work with are hardworking individuals who are gaining practical skills for the future!

Some beautiful nature-themed collages that the teens created! Collages are a unique art form that allows for creativity to flow and abound! Each collage is handmade, and made with care. It is important to care about the things one creates, or else the finished product will be meaningless. Fly the COOP is passionate about bringing nature to our teens so they can experience it firsthand!

It’ll go to a great cause, and you’ll be able to gift something handmade! Handmade gifts are the best, as someone put their time into making something. Time is a luxury that we all cannot afford, and it’s important to remember that as the year comes to a close!
