Kettle River Raptor Center

Kettle River Raptor Center We love wildlife. We do what we can to make sure wildlife stays wild, even when mankind throws them a curve that results in human intervention.

We rescue and rehabilitate wildlife. Our rehabilitators are both state and federally licensed and we have sub-permitted volunteers to help us as well. We specialize in raptors. But we step up and assist with all wildlife rescue issues that need attention. We work in conjunction with Fish and Wildlife officers who turn to us when they need assistance to rescue or rehabilitate a raptor or when they need help to coordinate the transport of a wild animal in need of care.

Thanks to Kevin Parazoo this owl is on the first leg of his journey to get vet care…if he can hang in there! He’s in rough shape and I suspect he may have hit a power line but I also suspect he cannot see. I’ve given him water and then some electrolyte solution. Send him good thoughts.

I learned a long time ago that if I rub an owls head in just the right spot it basically goes into dreamland. I’ve put baby owlets to sleep in my arms while we work on renesting. It even works with baby loons! And you haven’t lived until you have a sleeping baby loon burrowed against your bare skin under your shirt. Sigh….Omak here grabbed my really nice new fleece this morning so I had him take a little nap whilst I untangled his talons.
