Self-control is one of the most important skills students can develop.

The ability to remain disciplined, patient, and thoughtful under pressure helps build confidence, strengthen relationships, and encourage better decision-making in every area of life.

You never truly know what someone may be carrying silently.

Behind smiles, routines, and everyday conversations, there are often stories of pain, grief, trauma, insecurity, and struggles that many students never talk about out loud.

That’s why relationships matter. T1L1 stands in that gap by creating consistent connections with caring adults who show up, listen, encourage, and remind students that their circumstances do not define their future.

When students feel seen, supported, and valued, hope begins to grow. 🩷

The biggest battles students face never show up on a report card.

Students need people who show up, invest in them, and help them see a future beyond their current circumstances.

Become an investor today at the link in our bio and help us create life-changing relationships that remind students they are seen, valued, and never walking through life alone.

For many students, summer break can feel isolating or overwhelming.

The adults, mentors, coworkers, coaches, friends, and family members around students have more influence than they may realize.

Here are a few ways you can support a student this summer: 👇

1. Send a quick text once a week. A simple ‘thinking about you’ can mean more than you realize.

2. Plan one thing they can count on: coffee, lunch, a walk, or even a phone call.

3. Give specific encouragement. Instead of "I’m proud of you," try "I noticed how hard you’ve been working."

4. Let them know they have a safe space. Sometimes students just need somewhere to breathe.

5. Show up when it matters. Go to their game, event, recital, or workplace if you can.

Be the reason a student feels seen, supported, and less alone this summer.

Respect isn’t just about how you treat people when things are easy.

It’s how you respond in difficult moments too.

During our program, students learn that respect is a choice and a reflection of character in every situation.

Everything we do at T1L1 is centered around one goal: helping students step into a life of purpose and potential.

That mission shapes our curriculum, guides our mentors, and influences every interaction we have with students.

Because at the end of the day, we’re helping young people build character, confidence, and direction for their future.

In 2023, 40% of high school students reported feeling persistently sad or hopeless.

Students are walking into classrooms every day carrying anxiety, loneliness, pressure, and pain that many people never see.

Through Teach One to Lead One, caring mentors are showing up consistently in the lives of students who need someone in their corner and reminding them that they matter.

When students feel seen, heard, and valued, it can change the direction of their lives.
