Joplin Parents as Teachers helps you understand your child's development and connects you to the resources you need to make the best choices for your family.

We offer free personal home visits customized to the needs of your family and child. Joplin Parents as Teachers builds strong communities, thriving families and children who are healthy, safe and ready to learn. This is done by matching parents and caregivers with trained professionals who offer regularly scheduled family personal visits, annual child developmental screenings, group connection events and access to a network of resources during a child’s earliest years in life, from prenatal to kindergarten entry. 🐮🐷 Oink, moo, and baa!🚜💚 Our PAT cutie is learning through play!

🥰 During this PAT home visit, little hands and big imaginations were hard at work as this sweet learner practiced **imitation skills** while playing with a farm set alongside Mom!🐔🌾

From copying animal sounds to imitating play actions, every little moment is a BIG step in learning and development!

💕 The best part? Learning happens right at home through fun, connection, and play!🏡✨

Look at this little PAT cutie following directions and placing a cereal piece in the purple circle!

📚 It may look like a simple activity, but so much learning is happening!

Through this fun, hands-on experience, this little learner is practicing:
👀 Visual discrimination– noticing colors, shapes, and where things belong.
👂 Listening & following directions– understanding and carrying out simple instructions.
🤏 Fine motor skills– using those little fingers to pick up and place the piece of cereal.
🧠 Cognitive skills– making connections, solving problems, and learning through play.
🎯 Hand-eye coordination– working to place the cereal piece right where it belongs!

And the best part? Learning happens during everyday moments when children are encouraged to explore, practice, and have fun! 💜
