HelpMeSee transforms lives through innovation and surgical simulation. Our mission is to restore vision to people with visual impairment and blindness due to cataract worldwide through eye surgery simulation, product development, simulation-based training, and partnerships that promote simulation training to improve eye surgery outcomes. Today, there are one hundred million people who are visually

impaired due to cataract. Seventeen million people are blind and eighty-three million are moderate to severely visually impaired. Ninety percent of this vision loss is treatable through cataract surgery to alleviate the vast majority of vision loss. Unfortunately, there are not enough surgeons to perform cataract surgeries in the poorest regions in the world with the highest rates of vision loss, namely, Africa, China, India, and Latin America. The number of people with cataract that need surgery outnumbers the surgeons needed to perform the surgeries, a number that will continue to grow exponentially. On average, it takes four to eight years for cataract surgeons to achieve competency. Our solution uses eye surgery simulation-based training to significantly shorten the time it takes for eye surgeons to build competency and perform live surgeries. We understand the complexity and large-scale changed needed to reach these marginalized populations, but we cannot achieve this mission alone. HelpMeSee is building a sustainable model with partners and placing training centers in each of the poorest regions with the highest rates of vision loss to make the largest impact on this issue.

100 million people are blind or visually impaired from cataract - a treatable condition.

If everyone waiting for surgery stood hand in hand, their line would wrap around the Earth 3 times.

The surgery exists. The solution exists. What's missing? Enough trained surgeons to meet the need.

You can help change that. Every donation funds training for cataract surgeons in the communities that need it most. πŸ’™

You can teach a cataract surgeon to see but can you teach them to feel?

In cataract surgery, the most critical decisions happen at the tip of an instrument. The subtle push of tissue, the resistance of a capsule - these sensations take years to master through traditional training.

That's changing. Haptic VR simulators now give ophthalmic cataract surgeons the ability to experience the physical reality of surgery before ever stepping into a live operating room. Research confirms it shortens the learning curve, improves technique, and reduces complications.

Simulation-based training with haptic technology is the future of cataract surgery training.

The most skilled cataract surgeons rely on a refined sense of tactile feedback, interpreting how tissue responds to every movement. Today, advances in simulation-based education, particularly haptic virtual reality simulators like the HelpMeSee Eye Surgery Simulator, are transforming how essential s...

HelpMeSee and HMS Vision Private Limited have launched a simulation-based Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) training initiative in Guwahati, Assam by partnering with Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, the region's largest ophthalmic training institute.

"As more surgeons gain these skills, more patients will regain sight, and communities will benefit." β€” Dr. Akshay Nair, HMS Vision Private Limited

Over approximately three to four months, the program aims to train 30 cataract surgeons in , expanding surgical capacity and quality in the region.

HelpMeSee is bringing simulation-based MSICS training to Guwahati and putting sight-restoring surgery where it's needed most.
