Finger Lakes ReUse is accepting applications for the next round of their free job training programs, ReSET Technology, starting in late October.

ReSET Technology is designed to jumpstart your career path into the growing and lucrative IT field. The 10-week training helps you prepare for CompTIA A+ certification, often an important requirement for finding an entry-level IT position without a college degree. The program consists of a free10-week entry-level program, 16 hours per week. Those who successfully complete the 10-week training are invited to apply for a competitive full-time paid apprenticeship. Training is offered repeatedly throughout the year.

National Thrift Shop Day means ReUse gets to remind people why thrifting matters. Thousands of pounds diverted from waste. Local economy strengthened. Community programs funded. The dolls at Cayuga ReUse Center in donated/recycled baggies have been to the ReUse Spa! Lots of dolls and toys are donated to ReUse in rough shape. Volunteers give used dolls the royal treatment, cleaning them with vinegar, shampooing and detangling their hair, and giving them a trip to the ReUse fashion doll boutique for an outfit and/or some accessories. We give them a little love so you can play on!

Ithaca ReUse Center got an inflatable bounce house. The last family probably bought it in July. Hosted one party. Then realized they owned a bounce house for eleven months of the year they didn’t need it. Now it’s a rental-adjacent purchase for the next family.

Ithaca ReUse Center has pottery molds for sale. This is niche but it’s specific. Someone who needs pottery molds will find them. Someone who doesn’t know they need pottery molds might see them and remember they always wanted to make pottery. Both types of people should probably visit.

There’s a fireplace for ambiance, furniture for sitting, and a dresser for storage at Ithaca ReUse Center. Someone can create an entire living space from these items alone. Or combine them with other pieces. Or just buy the things they like and ignore the rest. Home furnishing is flexible when inventory is abundant.

This junior drum kit is available at Ithaca ReUse Center. The entry point to rhythm, musicianship, and constant noise. Kids who want to play will play. Parents who question that decision will reconsider at 4 PM on day one. By month three, everyone accepts the drums as part of the household. Musical development requires commitment.
