Redemption Road Rescue Rehab Inc (aka R4) is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization based in Lake County, Illinois. R4 functions as an all breed and ages, dog and cat rescue that specializes in behavioral training and rehabilitation. We are a professionally operated nonprofit dog and cat rescue run by certified dog trainers. We believe the solution to “difficult” animals cannot just be euthanasi

a. Our mission is to place dogs and cats that have undergone our rehabilitation program with responsible, reliable, and devoted owners. Our training specialty is centered in dog behaviors and understanding the canine mind. We take in all breeds, all ages and work with domesticated felines and feral cat colonies as well. Our expectations of adopters: 1- Consider the animal as an individual with their own personality and behaviors. 2- Be willing to learn, ask questions, and implement training into their daily routine. 3- Work alongside our team to prepare their home to provide the best environment for their new family member. R4 is 100% volunteer-run and foster-based and relies on donations, fundraisers, grants, and sponsorships to allow our organization to fulfill our mission to animals in need, so please consider donating today.

**Bottle Baby update + 1 more!!
Good morning everybody we wanted to share an update on our babies! We were very worried that we might lose those bottle babies that came to us very urgently on Saturday. Both of the boys have pulled through. They are confirmed boys as well. They are much stronger than they look and their eyes have now opened up. They are gaining weight steadily and are active little monsters. We got a surprise and we brought a third kitten yesterday. Not sure if this kitten was orphaned but he was found on the side of the road on a hot black tub screaming his little head off. He is a strong little guy, but definitely half the size of the other two. We are doing our darndest to keep everybody cozy and fed. The little black and white kitten was very happy to be surrounded by other kittens. It’s incredible how they just know that this other screaming wriggling little body is a safe one to be next to. It just reminds us that family is so important having these other two kittens, he is a boy as well, is really what I think saved him yesterday. They keep each other warm and give each other a great company. So if you haven’t hugged your siblings in a while, remember to go ahead and do that.

Our newest and youngest family members. These orphans were found attempting to nurse on their deceased mother in a backyard located in the Round Lake area. No exact reason was determined for mom’s death but out of the 3 babies these 2 have pulled through in the last 24 hours. When babies arrived they were in distress. We acted fast and had to de-flea even though it was also stressful, the amount of fleas was extremely overwhelming. Both to them and myself if I’m being honest!! I had to clean them off for all of us to be happy. Here we are relaxing together :) pray for our babes, let’s hope they continue to gain strength. Welcome little noodles!

What a beautiful update from our puppy Sydney’s family!

Just wanted to give you an update that Sydney is the sweetest girl and doing well. We added some more furry friends to our family and she’s the best big sister!
She’s a huge fan of frisbee and is super fast! She snatches them right outta the air! She’s so smart too! Redemption has been showing up on my feed a lot so just wanted to drop by with an update :)

Euphaedra and her babies! New intakes with some special characteristics. These babes will soon be up for adoption but currently. Just getting the feel for a larger space. They were kept in a tote for the first 5 weeks of their lives. They are super happy to be in a space where they can jump, climb and get access to a tad more freedom. People don’t always realise that animals develop quickly and need the space to grow with them. We knew this family needed a lift to redemption road. Welcome fam!

Our rescue pups are getting their steps in with the McHenry County Canicross . These wonderful runners are volunteering to take some of our rescues out on weekend runs. We are so happy to participate and get exposure for our dogs. It’s a great experience being out in the woods, running and bonding with new handlers. If you are looking to do something fun and active consider signing up with the Cani cross group.

Yukio and Nyx have been in our program for over a year! They are a pair of kitty’s that are simply overlooked because of the sheer number of intakes we have had. Both kitty’s are loving, great family cats and would be a marvelous addition to any home. They like dogs, kids and cats! Nyx is a tad shy at first but warms up quickly. Contact us to learn more!

Just a girl and her cat! Oleander is a sweetie foster babe. She is so loving, cuddly and doesn’t mind dress up! She’s got a lot of costumes currently! If you’re 5 year old needs a best friend to color with that has zero judgements towards their squiggly lines… oleanders your girl. She also can’t read so she gets along great with toddlers. It’s so hard to imagine that somebody left once and never looked back because we could imagine not having her. Just a total love. Contact us to learn more about her.

Angel is hungry! Doing the hangry dance. This little girl is 3 years old and up for adoption. Maltese pup, needs a home that has some pups and experience with nervous dogs. It’s adorable seeing her be so loving and open!

My old amazing dogs. How I love you so much. My best friends, my most loyal pals. Just 2 old dudes hanging with mom on a Sunday, listening to great tunes. While I clean! Sully was a sanctuary pup that I brought home and with a lot of time he adjusted nicely to living at home, he turned 11 this July! Red is my faithful ride or die that’s always by my side, he turned 10 this year. God bless these patient boys and give them many years to enjoy being with me!
