The STIS board wishes to express its gratitude to all donors and to inform you that, as of today, your contributions have enabled us to file a lawsuit against the ODEQ's actions.

In recent weeks, our members have been informed of inaccurate statements circulating about our organization and current board members. While we prefer not to engage in personal disputes, we have a responsibility to set the record straight.
Claims recently attributed to a former board member regarding our current leadership are simply untrue.
It is natural for people passionate about a cause to disagree on strategy or direction, but those disagreements should never distract us from our true purpose: Inola.
Stop the Inola Smelter has never been about one person, one board, or one organization. We are here for:
The families, landowners, and residents who have built their lives here.
The farmers and ranchers who depend on this land.
The future generations who will inherit this community.
Protecting our air, water, livestock, wildlife, and property from industrial contamination.
We welcome the work of other individuals and groups striving toward similar goals. We do not need to agree on every tactic to respect one another and work toward the same mission.
Our core commitment remains unchanged:
We will deal in facts.
We will treat everyone with respect.
We will partner in good faith with anyone who shares our goal.
We will respectfully correct false information and keep moving forward.
There is too much at stake to let personal disagreements divide us. Our focus was Inola yesterday, is Inola today, and will remain Inola tomorrow.
Thank you to everyone standing with us, attending meetings, sharing facts, and working to protect our home. Together, we can disagree without becoming divided—and together, we will keep fighting for Inola.

Stop the Inola Smelter (and its individual Board members) will be bringing a lawsuit against the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) for violating the Oklahoma Administrative Procedures Act. The ODEQ is responsible for protecting Oklahomans from environmental and human health hazards.

The reason for the lawsuit: the unlawful acts by our state agency, the Smelter Owner/Operators, and their environmental consultants.

Since at least December 2025, the ODEQ has allowed Oklahoma Primary Aluminum (OPA) (including their owners, operator-managers, and environmental consultants) to begin work on building a smelter before it granted these owner-operators a permit or even held a public hearing. This is a clear violation of Oklahoma law, which was intentionally violated by OPA and unlawfully allowed by the ODEQ. These acts, by both the OPA (including its owners, operators, and consultants) and the ODEQ, create a clear and present danger that this smelter will operate regardless of whether the evidence shows that it is dangerous to human health and the environment of Oklahomans, Texans, Arkansans, Kansans, and Missourians.

We have retained local air engineering and air modeling experts to ensure that the modeling of the smelter pollution is accurate and consistent with the local, state, and regional weather. Further, we have retained the country's leading environmental toxicologists and occupational medicine doctors to ensure that the affected peoples understand the risks and hazards to humans, animals, and their environmental quality that are created by this smelter. We will find out what, when, how, and where the pollution goes.

It is likely, given Oklahoma's windy and severe weather patterns, that the pollution from the smelter will travel in the air to all of Oklahoma, Dallas (North Texas), Arkansas, Kansas, and Southern Missouri.

If you need help checking your voter information we are able to assist. Being registered not only allows you to vote, but also for petitions like the grand jury petition that was going around recently, you couldn't sign it if you weren't registered to vote. Now this won't promise that outside sources won't restrict some things to city limits vs those of us outside of city limits, but it gives you the ability if the opportunity presents itself.

Stop the Inola smelter is in favor of extending the Moratorium until there is a vote of the citizens of Inola (Agenda Item #6); and
We are in favor of approving the submission of the Ordinance to the registered voters of the Town of Inola at the next general municipal election (Agenda Item #7(b)). We are in opposition of the approval of the Ordinance outright ( #7(a)).
