Today is Flag Day when we honor the Stars and Stripes, a symbol of freedom, identity, and strength. As the flag flies across the United States, let it remind us of the ideals it stands for — liberty, freedom, justice, and the fundamental promise of equal opportunity for all.

I am especially proud, as a retired HPCSD music teacher, of my former students, and how they have grown into the nicest, kindest, smartest adults ! Music teaches children so much more than notes and rhythms. Start your kids early, and encourage them throughout. Music is a lifelong skill, and can be life-changing and life-affirming.

Welcome 3rd Grade Students, Parents and Guardians: Congratulations! Your child has reached the age where they may study a band or orchestra instrument in school! Each child may study one instrument. Please listen to the different instruments and choose the three your child is most interested in.

Flag Retirement Ceremony on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM. Bring your worn or damaged American flags for proper and respectful retirement as we honor the symbol of our nation and those who have served under it.

This meaningful community event is a time to reflect on the values our flag represents — freedom, unity, and patriotism. Families, veterans, scouts, and community members are all welcome to attend.
