On Saturday May 10, 2014 twelve mothers came together at a home in Hyde Park, Massachusetts each bringing their best dish, drink, desserts and love of being a mom to celebrate motherhood. That day, as we sat at bistro tables dressed with pretty white table cloths, we talked about how it takes a village to raise a child. One of the us said, “wouldn’t it be nice to pool our money and help a students
with a college scholarship?” That was the day that the seed was planted. Two years later on Saturday May7, was our 3rd annual Mother’s Brunch and we were determined to Pay it Forward! The planning committee, Melisa Montas, Antionnette Hughes, Patricia Juba and Michelle Botus decided that at this year’s brunch we would collect money to help send ONE child to camp. That year we were blown away with all the support we received for our Pay it Forward Brunch because did not pay for one child to the Boys and Girls Club, the village pooled our resources and paid for TWENTY-ONE campers!!!!! This year we agreed to go back to our original intent of providing a college scholarship. We also decided on a name, The Perennial Village because by now we grew to more than 50 villagers. At the brunch we raised $509! To date we have raised $1470 and this year 3 college students will be recipients of the 1st Perennial Village Scholarship. We are pleased to announce that we are officially registered with the City of Boston as a business whose purpose is to help families access higher education! We also want all to know that EVERY DOLLAR paid forward is going directly to the scholarship recipients! We will continue to accept gifts to the Perennial Village Scholarship fund.
