Friends! Today is day 2 of our Month of Prayer! Tomorrow and Wednesday, the P7 students in our program sit for their "PLE's", Uganda's national exam at the end of primary school. More than 900,000 students across the country take it, and the results help decide where each student progresses for secondary school.

Pray with us for calm hearts, clear minds and good recall for every exam!

Friends! We have been busy behind the scenes in Uganda! 🇺🇬

November is our Month of Prayer, and we want to start it with some big updates on what God has done this past season. Would you take a moment to read and pray with us?

Recently:

1. Our annual Benefit Auction was a huge success! It raised enough to fund our base operating needs for the coming year. The Fund-a-Need also covered nearly every current extra 2027 need for The Village, our program for students in technical training and university.
Praise: God's provision through so many of you.

2. Two students started at Uganda Christian University in August. Others are starting internships in mechanics, electrical work, nursing and farming.
Pray: wisdom and good mentors as they start.

3. National exams wrap up this month for the students taking them.
Pray: calm, clear minds for every exam still ahead.

4. Thomas and the faith team are leading worship and devotions with students and teachers at both of our partner schools. Over the August school holiday, 10 children took Bibles home to read.
Pray: that God's Word takes root in their hearts and homes.

5. Our Farming God's Way garden is growing cabbage, sukuma (collard greens), eggplant and peppers for the kitchen. The first vegetables were sold last month, and the new kitchen is finished!
Pray: rain at the right time, and strength for the facility team.

6. Our staff recently welcomed friends from Kansas for a leadership training, visits to both partner schools and a campfire with 16 Rehoboth students.
Pray: unity and good health across the staff.

7. Coming up: the December holiday program (Dec 7–18) and a mission boot camp for teens (Dec 19–Jan 16). Our partner church, God's Kingdom Standard Church, is also dreaming with about reaching further into the community in 2027.
Pray: a joyful December, and wisdom for 2027.

That's a lot to thank God for, and plenty to pray for.

Two weeks from today!

The Ripples Benefit Auction is Thursday, August 27 at Journey Mennonite Church in South Hutchinson. Doors open at 5:00 and the live auction starts at 7:00.

Come hungry and come ready to bid. We have a silent auction full of things worth browsing, a live auction that's always a good time, stories from the past year, our fund-a-need to launch us into the next, dinner on us, and childcare covered.

But the heart of it is the same as always. This is a night to celebrate and pour into what the Lord is doing in Jinja, Uganda, and to hear some of those stories firsthand.

So bring a friend. Bring a few! There's room at the table and it's always a better night with more people in it.

School Term II is almost done! Would you pray with us?

Term II is the long one. Months of early mornings and the ordinary mid-year routine ends in just a few days!

This last stretch is always the heaviest, and we would love for you to spend time this week praying with us over it! Here is where prayer is needed most:

For the students

- End-of-term assessments now, and for the candidate classes, national exams are still ahead!

- Focus and stamina through the final push.

- Peace walking into every exam room, and confidence that a score is not the measure of who they are.

- Health. The shorter rainy season coming up soon brings a rise in malaria and respiratory illness.

- Provision and growth in every household over the break, and every student back through the school gate when Term III opens.

For teachers and the Ugandan staff

- Teachers at the private Christian schools Ripples from the Well partners with, who have stood in front of the same students all term. Finishing strong after a long term takes something out of a person. Pray they end it encouraged!

- Social workers, the faith team leading Bible studies, and staff who show up on the football pitch, at the center, in living rooms, and in the moment conversations and opportunities.

- Their own rest and their own families, while they pour so much into these kids.

For the local church

- Pastors and church leaders carrying a full load of ministry alongside everything the term has required.

- Unity and sound teaching as the church continues to grow here.

- Youth programs and outreach over the term break, one of the better windows all year!

If you sponsor a child, pray for them by name this week! They are finishing something difficult, and they are not finishing it alone! 💙

Check out some of the progress on the new kitchen at the Ripples center!

We are in the middle of renovating a few things and preparing for growth and the next holiday (school break) while the kids are busy working hard in school! We are currently building a new kitchen to be able to serve and produce meals at a higher capacity, but also specifically to be able to start hosting culinary classes and food safety training for the students and families we partner with!

This new space will include water purification (and heating), a solar panel, stainless steel countertops and prep space, a steel double sink and faucets with the purified water, lighting, sockets, a translucent ceiling, 3 new rocket stoves, 2 ovens, and a stovetop and frying vat!

Things aren't quite done yet, but we are super excited for this project and the asset to the ministry that it will be once it is finished!

Happy fathers day around the globe! 🌍

Today we want to honor every dad out there. And every man who loves as one: the grandfathers, the uncles, the mentors and friends who step in when a child needs someone. So much of fathering happens where nobody's looking. The early mornings, the prayers said over sleeping kids, caring for mom, the big and small things that add up to a whole life poured out for someone else.

Every dad gives more than we can see and does more than we'll ever know, and we are thankful for all of it. Happy Father's Day, from everyone at Ripples from the Well. 💙

A lot has been happening lately here in Uganda! Four of our boys have officially graduated from technical school and completed the Ripples program! Watching them cross this milestone, after everything they have worked through to get here, has been one of the greatest joys of this season.

Two of them have already found work. The other two are still in the process of finding the right job placement, and we are praying and believing for good doors to open for them soon.

Would you take a moment to pray with us for them?

Pray for all four of these young men as they step into this new chapter. Pray for the two still searching for a great placement, that the right opportunity would come at the right time. And pray for maturity, wisdom, and steadiness as they build stable lives, so that wherever they go, they can be a light and a source of ministry to those around them!

We are proud of them. And we are grateful for you walking alongside this journey with us!
