Exploring Programs of the Longhorn Council

Exploring Programs of the Longhorn Council Explorers learn about many possible careers they can pursue through handson activities.

Exploring supports many career development programs for youth in Tarrant County, Texas, and surrounding counties. We help organizations put together and run an Exploring program that connects boys and girls from 10-20 years old with real world professionals that teach them what their job is like through hands on activities. Clubs are now available to youth 10 to 14 years of age (6th, 7th and 8Th g

rade) , and Posts are for 15 to 20 year old participants (9th grade up and not yet 21). There are 12 fields of Exploring:
Arts and Humanities
Aviation
Business
Communications
Engineering and Technology
Fire/Emergency Service
Health Care
Law Enforcement
Law, Governance and Military
Science
Skilled Trades
Social Services and Education

If you or your child is interested in exploring their career interests, please give us a call and we'll gladly connect you with one of our Explorer Posts or Clubs.

We have lots of opportunities to start Health Care Exploring Posts in the Longhorn Council. Who do you know that is in health care and would love to give youth a chance for hands-on experiences.

Exploring is a Scouting America program designed to teach vital life and career skills to young people from all backgrounds. Through immersive career experiences and mentorship from community and business leaders, youth are empowered to build character, develop leadership abilities, and gain skills they can use now and throughout their future careers.

At the heart of Exploring is a unique partnership between young people and local businesses or community organizations. These partners create career-specific Exploring posts or clubs by aligning their resources and professionals with the interests of youth in their area. The result? Hands-on, interactive programs that help young people grow, explore their passions, and discover their potential.

Who Can Participate?

Clubs – For youth ages 10–14 (grades 6–8)
Posts – For young people ages 14–20

Both formats follow the same model: dynamic, mentor-led career and character-building activities that bring learning to life.

With support from thousands of local, regional, and national businesses, Exploring opens doors to hundreds of exciting career fields — all while making a real impact in the lives of tomorrow’s leaders.
