Barn Cats, INC

Barn Cats, INC Barn Cats, Inc. Each cat will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated. re-homes nuisance feral cats (and occasionally hoarder cats and un-adoptables) into safe barns.

saves cats by rescuing “Non-Adoptable” cats from city animal shelters and placing them as working cats in North Texas barns, warehouses, sheds, and back patios. We do not usually take kittens or white cats, as they are simply predator fodder. If you are interested in getting a barn cat or you need to surrender a cat, please email [email protected]. Our president will respond as quickly as possible.

After much fanfare and two 112 mile round trips to Gainesville, Texas….four cats from various animal shelters went to work for a firefighter. 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛These RCO’s (Rodent Control Officers) will be patrolling the outbuildings around a lovely home and 33 acres.

Please consider donating to our 501c3 non-profit this year during the North Texas Gives to Animals campaign ending Sunday, May 31st. We could certainly use some gas money!

Five of our barn cats went on field trips today. ROCKY got to see Hurst, Texas after he burst out of a pet carrier with the plastic latches (instead of the usual proper hardware). The last time I saw him he was scampering across the cul de sac where Cassima lives. She feeds the community cats in the area, and she expects he’ll show back up when he gets hungry.

Luckily we had REX awaiting a barn, so he got to drive with Cassima and Dana to Gainesville, along with cats Cheetos and Maverick. 😢 Sadly, their field trip was short lived when the firefighter (that were going to move in with) had an unexpected call.

Instead, the three of them will be sleeping in Cassima’s spare bedroom, bunking with 4 of Mario’s teenage cats overnight. Friday should be a better day (for the cat’s, that is). Dana and Cassima will be up at the 🌞break of dawn putting these 3 guys into clean carriers and heading back north to Gainesville.

Becky and Steve (mostly Steve) vacuumed, 🪣 washed and scrubbed the cages and equipment. After sanitation is completed, Mario’s semi-friendly 🐈‍⬛ cats will fill some of the empty caging.

While it wasn’t a normal day, it is a day that will be well remembered for quite a while.

You have just gotta’ check out Cassima and Dana’s video from Prosper, Texas. Now, it just may be that I haven’t seen many 🐓 chicken coops, or this is a really cool structure.
🐈‍⬛ At this 5 acre property, these girls, Billie and Kahega, will surely love being able to roam not only the pasture area, but also at the house where the pool and trees will surely entice them to visit from time to time.

FYI: Please consider donating to our organization via North Texas Gives to Animals campaign until May 31st.

“How far is it to Chico, Texas?”, asked Cindy. Well, by my calculations we were looking at a 50 mile trip about an hour from our base camp in Hurst, Texas.

That is where 3 cats turned up to live among some other barn critters and a Great Pyrenees dog, today.

Jackie with Joyful Ranch Counseling reached out to us saying, “We are a non-profit equine assisted therapy counseling center in Springtown, Texas. Recently we have been experiencing issues with mice in our barn. We are also an animal rescue…”

You can check out their facility here - https://www.joyfulranchcounseling.com/

Last Friday, Cassima and I headed north down I-35 with 4 Sanger, Texas cats. Come to think of it, I forgot to tell Jackie that these cats were bi-lingual. Previously, all were “working cats” from an industrial warehouse. These cats just may be our first placement of previously-experienced mousers.

I love the baby chicken 🐥coop they will occupy for the next 2-3 weeks. It gives them direct site of the 🐭 mice they will soon be chasing. When released they will have access to this 2.5ac property they will share with rescue llamas, ducks, chicken and geese.

This cat has many names. There is PETE, PETEY and “No, Pete, No!”

This yellow tabby is a handful. He is super friendly, loves to be petted but out of the blue he will wrap himself around your leg or arm to give you a good hugging and…occasionally decide to embed a tooth or two. Even after scolding he is calm as could be and pretends like it never happened.

He has only “loved” women, and we are hopeful we can find a male adopter that might take a chance on this 2 year old cat.

If I were proficient in Snapchat, I would create a photo of a cat wearing a dunce hat, but you get the drift.

Email us at [email protected] if you’d be willing to take him on as a barn cat in a rural placement.

On the last day of April, we were in Aubrey, Texas sending off 4 cats to begin their new lives in this custom barn on 8 acres.

Cassima is a horsewoman and she sure enjoyed interacting with the cats’ barn buddies.

RURAL PLACEMENT
🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛Three cats became part of this family today in Pilot Point, Texas. They were rescued because their caregiver passed away and the only home they have ever known was sold. 🏠While in our holding area one became quite vocal and let us give him lovin’. He also bunked up with the tabby cat and once he was released from his carrier, into the other cat’s carrier he flew.

….many of the cats we save are rescues, or are unadoptable cats from city shelters. Please consider adopting an outside cat.
