The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) sponsors Annual Field Day. ARRL Field Day is the most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. More than 31,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations.

The Hurst Amateur Radio Club (ARC) will be participating in this event June 28-29, 2025. This is a 24-hour event, beginning at 1:00 pm Saturday and ending at 1:00 pm Sunday.

Hurst ARC invites you to visit us during this event to learn about the fun, science and public service opportunities of the amateur (Ham) radio hobby. In particular, we encourage those interested to visit us Saturday, June 28th, from 3-6:00 pm. Members of the Hurst ARC will be available to answer questions and assist those interested in ‘getting on the air.’

We will be operating at:

Hurst Fire Station #2 EOC, 2nd floor
837 W Pipeline Rd, Hurst, TX

* Join Us Saturday Morning, May 17 at the EOC
For An Introduction to AREDN and Recent Updates to
the HARC AREDN Network
Presented by John K5SKR and Steve KM5HT
• What is AREDN? … The Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network has a main goal of "delivering quality, high
speed, data communications.”
• AREDN firmware allows hams to repurpose common consumer Wi-Fi equipment for use on Part 97 and shared
Part 15 channels
• What kind of equipment is needed and what applications work with AREDN?
• The Hurst Amateur Radio Club uses this technology heavily to provide internet access to the DMR repeater and
for remote access services.
• We will provide a demonstration of AREDN path exploration.
• A number of changes have been made to our system and we will review these
• AREDN is an excellent example of emergency communications technology coupled with a practical use on a daily
basis. The AREDN can provide internet access; and it supports the internet link required for the DMR repeater for
connection into the CBridge.

The club participated in Winter Field Day last weekend, 25-26th. We deployed a multitude of antennas and transceivers that we used to practice emergency mobile operations from the Hurst Community Park pavilion. Members took turns using the equipment to connect with other stations in the US and Canada across 5 Amateur bands over the 30 hour event duration. When members weren't making contacts we enjoyed food and fellowship. Thanks to Mr. Dan Lepinski owner of NTREE we were able to operate using solar energy to power our equipment for the entire event. We were happy to chat with everyone who stopped by to see what we were doing.

We will be repeating this exercise June 28-29, 2025, for the Summer Field Day event and invite anyone interested in joining for the event. Better yet join us at Hurst Fire Station #2 on any Saturday between 9-11.
