Here is the updated information from Steve’s wife, Brenda for the Celebration of Steve’s Life.

“Please join our family as we celebrate the life of our husband and father, Stephen Erwin, on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. We will be meeting at 2:00 PM at Heritage Auctions (2801 W Airport Fwy, Irving, Texas). When you enter the building, you will need to get a guest ID tag from the reception staff. From there you’ll be directed to the Gallery. Daniel, Paige, and I are looking forward to hearing your memories of Steve. Please let me know if you’d like to attend. I’m hoping to get a VERY general count so we can have enough chairs (and cookies?). You can message me here on Facebook or email me at [email protected]

It is with sad news to inform you that a dear friend and Scouter, Steve Erwin, has passed away on October 25th, 2023. (Jan 16, 1960 - October 25, 2023). Here is his wife Brenda’s Facebook message on October 26th. At her requests, she asked me to share this info with you.
“This is Steve's wife, Brenda. I need to tell you all that last night I lost my best friend ever, my husband Steve, to a sudden heart attack. It happened so fast that we barely understood what was happening.
We will have a Celebration of Life in his hometown of Tulsa in a few weeks and then another one in the Dallas-Fort Worth area after that. I’ll post details as they are confirmed.

So many people have reached out with their stories of how Steve affected their lives, of kindnesses remembered, and of his wry and quirky sense of humor. Thank you for keeping Steve and us in your hearts. Brenda, Paige, and Danny”

Steve is survived by his wife Brenda, daughter Paige, and son Danny.
Steve was a scouter from 2006-2016.
He became a volunteer in the Cub Scout program when his son, Danny joined as a Tiger in 2006. He continued volunteering after his son left the program in 2011. He gave back to the Scouting program serving as an adult volunteer as a District Roundtable Commissioner and as Unit Commissioner. He has also served in many other positions including District Popcorn Chair, district training team for BALOO, BB/Archery instructor for many years while helping at district Twilight Camp, Council Cub Fun Day, and Tiger Cub Adventure Day. Steve earned his Wood Badge Beads as a Beaver. He also received many awards from the Roadrunner District that included Training Knot, Commissioner Arrowhead, the Roadrunner District Spark Plug Award, and District Award of Merit.
Steve had many talents - he created graphics for scout posters and scout event marketing materials. He designed the very first Longhorn Council Popcorn Kick Off t-shirt in 2015. See the photo in this post for him wearing it.
Steve was a friend to many scouters who worked with him on so many levels. He was the great example of our scouting slogan “Do a Good Turn Daily”. We will miss him but will keep Steve in our memories.

“The local Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. The location will be Heritage Auctions, 2801 W. Airport Fwy, Irving Texas. I haven't nailed down the time yet, but it will be in the afternoon.”said Brenda.

It is with sad news to inform you that a dear friend and Scouter, Tony Wooten, passed away on March 19, 2023. Tony and his dog Cheyenne, were preparing for a country wide trip in his new RV. Sadly he suffered a serious stroke and he was cared for in his final days at the Texas Health HEB Hospice. Tony is survived by his daughter.
Tony was a longtime scouter for about 65 years.
He became a Cub Scout in 1958, and continued through Boy Scouts becoming an Eagle Scout earning 6 palms. Tony continued giving back to the Scouting program serving as an adult volunteer as a Scoutmaster in the Transatlantic Council and later returned to his original Troop (Troop 166), in Hurst, TX, as an Assistant Scoutmaster. From that time, he has served in many positions including Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Venture Advisor, Order of the Arrow Advisor, Unit Commissioner, and District Camping Committee Chair within the Roadrunner District. Tony received the OA Vigil Honor and earned his Wood Badge Beads as a Bobwhite. He also received many awards from the Roadrunner District where he was registered as adult volunteer that included the Roadrunner District Spark Plug Award, District Award of Merit, and Emeritus Award.
He helped and encouraged many scouts to prepare for higher adventures in Scouting, and the Order of the Arrow ceremony team. He loved the Longhorn Council’s Camps, especially Worth Ranch. He attended many summer camps during his youth years and many Camporees as adult.

Tony was the epitome of a Scout. At Tony’s request his ashes will be scattered in his beloved Colorado mountain ranges. No services will be planned.

Dear Friends,
Our beloved scouting friend, Gloria Coyle has gone to meet our Lord on August 25th around 4am at Harris HEB Hospital. She was surrounded by some members of her loving family.
Due to the large number of family members who live at a distance and overseas, Gloria’s husband Larry said a memorial / celebration service will be held in about two months.
Gloria loved the Scouting program. She had 4 Eagle Scout sons and has been active in Scouting for 47 years. She has touched the lives of so many of us.
Larry Coyle says that he is as well as can be expected and has no immediate needs but appreciates your prayers. He hopes you will think of Gloria and share uplifting stories about her. Fond memories and photos are a wonderful legacy.
More information will be forthcoming.

CONGRATULATIONS, THANK YOU AND FAREWELL ROADRUNNER DISTRICT This news will bring us to a humble, grateful, bittersweet transition for our Roadrunner District which will always be fondly remembered as a starting point for most of us who became involved in the great Scouting program. The District had countless knowledgeable, enthusiastic, passionate, friendly, and kind scouters. There were also many who were eager to learn, to help, to donate, etc. That’s what made our District so special! Thank you also to the many professional scouters who worked with the District and made wonderful memories with us saying, “Roadrunner District is the Best!”!
