From Roger, who is using our software to produce Bible drafts:

This Thursday I had Pastor Dino and Loreta here so I decided to have them edit the first two chapters of Jonah with the ATW draft. Loreta knows the background of this but Dino hadn't gone through my briefing yet on what to expect. So I explained it all to him. At the end he said "But won't it take longer if we do it that way?" I said that I didn't think so but that it is just an experiment and we should just try it. About 2 minutes into Jonah he stopped and said " Who edited this chapter?" I said, "It came straight from the computer, although I spent time editing the grammar." He seemed surprised that it came from the computer and not from a native language drafter. A little later he said, "If it is like this, it will be much faster to do it this way!" They finished Jonah 1 in 54 minutes. Just before break they read their revised draft together and Dino said, "Wow, it is so natural!" After break they did Jonah 2 in 15 minutes. For the whole book, they averaged 2.88 minutes per verse.

The team became increasingly positive about the process as they went through the book. They see how using this source already in their own language can make the process easier and faster. They also see how their skills developed through years of translating the New Testament fit into this approach. Afterwards Pastor Dino said, "I really thought the other day when I saw the first chapter that it was a native language speaker who had drafted it."

If there is an important message about virus warning/precaution or pandemic that the whole world and all the languages group need to know. How long does it take for TBTA or any other tools to make a couple paragraphs or sentences of important messages available for all language groups?

Only One Hour need for Post-machine Translation editing for Jonah! It would be great it you can break it down to How many verses per hours. For Jonah is 48 verses/hour.

I'm adding the Apostles Creed to the Bible stories. To make it clear that it's not part of the Bible, I added the following text: "These words are not in the Scriptures. But almost all Christians believe these things. And Christians have said these words for about 1600 years."

ATW consultant Jeremiah Chung is recovering after a heart surgery about seven weeks ago. He will make a trip Aug 7-21 to Taiwan and share a session about language technology tools on Aug 18 in COSCUP for open source coders, users and promoters.
