A message from our director Johnny:
Since April of 2023 we've all grown so much as wonderful humans and made so many memories together. We've all built new friendships, strengthened our camaraderies, and bolstered our DFW community. It isn't without saying that a lot of these efforts were achievable with some help along the journey, which I am absolutely grateful for.
One of the most pivotal moments of our growth was the space provided for us by The Awareness Project next door. For those who have attended an ASDFW event, they helped us expand our space to provide a nice vendor and stage area when we quickly outgrew the Central Arts building.
One of the owners of The Awareness Project- Stanley Heard II, had unexpectedly passed away recently in November 2024. There was a celebration of his life held earlier this month and it was beautiful. The amount of people who showed up and gave testimony of his character was touching. He dedicated his life to helping others and his community, and by effect he helped our community as well.
I've remained silent to those who have asked when the next Anime Social DFW event would be, but this is the reason to why. I am still affected by this more than I've shown, and I feel that I still need time to heal from this. I am grateful from the supporting friends of the Central Arts community, the DFW 3rd Strike community, Virtua Sekai Project community, DFW Idol communities, and tons more I cannot recall right now as I'm typing this out through tears in my eyes and having them roll down my face.
I've been working on other projects as well in the meantime, and helping out other communities where I can because I know Stanley would encourage us all to help each other out and be good humans.
Live your life to the fullest. Love each other, uplift each other, build something for yourself and be proud of it. Your impact is larger than you realize.
I picked this picture of Stanley because I thought it was really cool!
Once I feel I've healed, we will continue onwards.
Thank you everyone.
