Last day serving in Bayou La Batre!

The Catalina crew spent the morning playing bingo, sharing lunch, and spending time with the senior citizens in the community. They then headed back to Open Doors Thrift Store to finish sorting clothes.

Meanwhile, the Lighthouse crew continued working on the Rain Barrel Project, helping install barrels at three more homes! They wrapped up the day with ice cream and some time together at the park.
What a great way to finish a week of serving, building relationships, and making memories!

Day 3 of serving in Bayou La Batre!

The Lighthouse team got to spend their first day working with the Rebuilding Together of South Alabama Rain Barrel project! They absolutely loved it, and did an amazing job installing barrels at 3 different homes!! Through this project, they helped provide homeowners with a practical way to collect and reuse rainwater.

The Catalina’s spent their morning volunteering for the public library! They helped serve at a Dr. Seuss themed event where kids got to come play, do crafts and read books. After lunch, they headed to the Open Doors Thrift store to help sort clothes. Of course, we had to try on a few silly outfits and got a good laugh out of it! 😂

Day 2 of serving in Bayou La Batre!

The Catalina’s enjoyed another day of installing rain barrels for the community. We went to 3 locations, the last one was a farm so we had fun meeting some of the horses!

The Lighthouse crew spent their morning serving and playing games with the Senior Citizens Community. After lunch, they headed to the Local Open Doors thrift store. Where they sorted clothes!

We wrapped our evening all together with a tour of Bayou La Batre! We can’t wait for day 3 😊

Day 1 of serving in Bayou La Batre!

Team Lighthouse started off their day by heading to the local senior center. They played bingo and some of the ladies painted nails! Their second stop was the Bellingrath Gardens where they helped plant a new bed for the community.

Team Catalina spent the day with the Rebuilding Together of South Alabama Rain Barrel Project. We went to three homes and installed rain barrels for homeowners who are in need of rain water relocation away from their homes. The water collected in the barrels can be used to water plants and reused in other ways.

To wrap up our amazing day we all made our way to the beach to enjoy some beach games and pizza!

Bayou La Batre team has arrived! After a 2 hour delay on I-85…we made it safely! We just met all of our amazing youth works leaders and ate some yummy barbecue. Now it’s time for some orientation as we prepare for the week ahead!
