Members of the Hopatcong Womans Club placed a wreath at the Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Field during Saturday’s rainy memorial .

Our final meeting of the season was held at the Black River Barn in Randolph, and we invited our two Hopatcong Scholarship winners to speak about their future plans. Ashlynn Loven is pursuing a music education degree at Lebanon Valley College in PA, and Madelyn Ausmus is pursuing a biology degree at TCNJ in NJ. Madelyn additionally plans to go to medical school to specialize in Oncology Medicine.

Ashlynn's mother and Madelyn's father proudly posed with their daughters, who were actually long time friends in school before becoming our scholarship award recipients.

The Hopatcong Woman's Club takes applications and selects two recipients each year for these scholarship awards. Hopatcong high school seniors should see their guidance counselor for more information.

🏡💜Our Housing Support Program helps Medicaid/NJ FamilyCare members who are experiencing a housing crisis access and maintain safe, healthy, and affordable housing.

This program offers:
✔️ Pre-tenancy support – help finding housing
✔️ Tenancy support – help staying housed
✔️ Move-in support – assistance with basic move-in needs

📦 No one should have to choose between rent, food & period care.

We teamed up with Human Needs Food Pantry of Montclair, New Jersey and dropped off over 200 bras & nearly 1,000 menstrual hygiene products so more women in their community can manage their periods with comfort & confidence.

Moments like this are about more than supplies, they’re about dignity, equity, & showing up for each other. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, especially ThirdLove who contributed bras to our cause 🩵🩷

April is Food Insecurity Awareness Month. This is a time to recognize a reality that often goes unseen in our communities.

For individuals and families experiencing housing instability, food insecurity is not just a possibility but a daily challenge. When you don’t know where you’ll sleep, it becomes even harder to know where your next meal will come from. The two can go hand in hand, creating a cycle that’s incredibly difficult to break.

At Family Promise of Sussex County, we see firsthand how access to stable housing directly impacts access to nutritious food. When families have a safe place to call home, everything changes, from the ability to store groceries to preparing consistent, healthy meals.

This month, we’re raising awareness and encouraging our community to take action. Whether it’s donating, volunteering, or simply learning more, every step helps move families toward stability. 🍽
