Senior lab mix, Tippy is 12 years old and sadly returned because his human has passed away. Tippy is very confused and missing his human very much. Tippy is housebroken, and seems to be okay with cats and other dogs but he prefers the quiet of a no small children or adult home. Please help us place this beautiful soul into a new home soon. Tippy is a wonderful boy, who is a bit stout but typicall lab size. We are always happy to perform meet and greets with potential adopter's dogs. Apply hartshelter.org or contact 217.283.0779.

Bella is searching for a new home because her human dad has passed away. Bella's dad was a veteran who served our country and now we are hoping to help his beloved Bella find a great new home. Bella is a 3 year old wiredhaired pointing griffon and weighs about 50 pounds. Bella is a sweet gal who doesnt seem to mind the other dogs and she may have at one time lived with a cat. Bella is spayed and current on vaccines and prevention. We are happy to perform meet and greets with potential adopters dogs. For an application visit us at hartshelter.org or contact 217.283.0779.

These past few weeks have been a heartbreak. We start with a wonderful dog, named Zoey who we just adopted out to the prefect family. Within 2 weeks of the adoption, Zoey became gravely ill. The University of Illinois diagnosed her with an aggressive form of Blastomycosis. The efforts to save Zoey toppled thousands but sadly failed. We are all beyond heartbroken because Zoey was part of the HART family and her new family. Blastomycosis is a tough one because the incubation period from exposure can take several months before symptoms appear. We don't have the answers just the tears for this wonderful dog who didnt deserve her fate. HART has taken on full financial responsibility for Zoey's medical bills. On top of losing Zoey, HART has had several returned adoptions due to their humans passing away. Many of these dogs and cats are seniors. And HART has accepted cats from neighbors and supporters who also passed away. We plan to post these animals very soon in hopes of finding them new homes. Rest in peace Zoey 💔

This is our exceptionally beautiful girl Whimsy! She is three years old, very loving, and did we say gorgeous too? 🤪. She would love to find a home and family of her own but prefers no small animals. She would do best with calm dogs as big or bigger than she is. If you are looking for a stunner to add to your family, this is your girl! Apply for her at hartshelter.org

Henry wants to remind everyone that today is National Black Dog Day. Research shows that black dogs sit in shelters longer than others simply because of their coat color. Please consider a beautiful black-furred friend the next time you adopt! Check out Henry and our other black dogs at hartshelter.org
