Tanner's Bible Ministry

Our goal through this ministry is to share Tanner's love through God's word with as many people as possible! Tanner was a typical 21 year old Texas boy.

He was intelligent and had a curiosity for life beyond his years from a young age. He was an athlete and had a passion for most sports, but excelled in wrestling and football... and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Tanner was a gentle soul and had a deep love for his family. He was a socializer and made friends easily. He had a large network of friends and had a heart for giving the best of himself

to everyone - whether through a kind word of encouragement or an act of selflessness. Tanner also was suffering from his own struggles with consequences of bad decisions and addiction. He never showed his own pain and struggle - always offering encouragement or support to others. Tragically, Tanner passed away at the age of 21 on December 3, 2020 due to a fentanyl overdose. His death has left an emptiness that will never be filled this side of heaven for so many family and friends. Tanner always admired his big brother Justin. His pride and greatest joy was being an uncle to his nieces and nephew Austyn, Asher and Alyxiia Moore. He also took great pride in being a big brother to his younger twin siblings - brother and sister Kelly & Karli! He left behind a grief stricken dad, Kenneth, mom, Stephanie and many extended family members and friends. Tanner is remembered most for his infectious smile, compassionate heart, lifting people up even when he was at a low point in life and his love for everyone he met, especially his family. Tanner was a hugger and loved giving and receiving hugs. He had recently added a new tattoo on his forearm to his collection, "family" - he was really proud of that one. We will forever be Tanner's family and our prayer is to bring honor to his memory and share his love through God's word - one bible at a time!

📖 Verse of the Day

“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22-23

Reflection:

Before you’ve even had coffee, something has already happened this morning that you didn’t arrange. God’s compassion showed up. Not leftover from yesterday. Not measured out by how well you did. Every time the sun comes up, His mercy comes up with it.

Jeremiah wrote those words while Jerusalem lay in ruins, with grief on almost every line around them. He wasn’t saying it because life was good. He was saying it because God is.

Maybe yesterday didn’t go how you hoped. Maybe it wore you out, or a worry followed you into bed and woke up with you. That hasn’t used up God’s mercy. It’s waiting for you this morning, before anything is fixed.

So don’t start today by adding up everything you’re facing. Start by receiving what He’s already set out: fresh mercy, steady love, a faithfulness that has never once let you down. You didn’t earn it, and you don’t have to. You just get to wake up to it.

Ask Yourself:

What am I still carrying from yesterday that I can hand to God this morning?

How would my morning change if I started it by receiving instead of measuring up?

Father in Heaven,

Thank You for this morning, and for the mercy that was waiting before I opened my eyes. Whatever yesterday left unfinished, You’re already carrying it with me, and I’m grateful that You never get tired of me.

Instead of beginning with everything on my mind, help me begin with You. Take whatever I’m holding onto, and let me walk into this day resting in a love that doesn’t depend on how today goes.

Great is Your faithfulness. Let me live today like I believe it.

📖 Verse of the Day

“But there are some things that you cannot be sure of. You must take a chance. If you wait for perfect weather, you will never plant your seeds. If you are afraid that every cloud will bring rain, you will never harvest your crops.”

Ecclesiastes 11:4

Reflection:

Fear often lies at the root of our indecision. We're afraid of making mistakes, failing, or facing rejection. This fear can paralyze us, keeping us from taking action. But Ecclesiastes 11:4 reminds us that waiting for perfect conditions will prevent us from ever moving forward: "If you wait for perfect weather, you will never plant your seeds. If you are afraid that every cloud will bring rain, you will never harvest your crops."

Consider the excuses we often make: "I'm not ready," "I don't have enough resources," or "The timing isn't right." These are rooted in fear. Yet, throughout the Bible, God has used imperfect people in imperfect situations to accomplish His will.

Moses said, "I can’t talk."

Gideon said, "I’m too young."

Abraham said, "I’m too old."

What dreams has God placed in your heart? What steps have you been hesitant to take? Remember, perfectionism paralyzes potential. We must trust that if God is with us, nothing can stand against us. Romans 8:31 tells us, "If God is on our side, who can ever be against us?" Faith, not fear, is the antidote to our hesitation.

Just as God parted the Red Sea for the Israelites and provided manna in the wilderness, He will make a way for you. Take the first step, and watch as He opens doors, provides resources, and works miracles in your life.

Today, choose faith over fear. Trust that God’s plans for you are good, even if the path ahead seems uncertain. Plant those seeds of hope and watch as He brings forth a harvest beyond your wildest dreams. Your life is too precious to be wasted in the shadows of fear. Step out in faith, knowing that God is with you every step of the way.

What excuses have I been making that are rooted in fear?

How can I trust God more and take action despite uncertainties?

🙏 Prayer of the Day

Dear God,

Thank You for reminding me not to wait for perfect conditions. I know I often let fear hold me back. Help me to trust You like Moses, Gideon, and Abraham did, despite their flaws.

Give me the courage to take that first step, even when I'm unsure. I trust that You will guide me and provide what I need along the way. Strengthen my faith so that it overcomes my fears, and let Your strength show through my weaknesses.

Thank You for the dreams You've placed in my heart. Help me move forward with confidence, knowing You're with me every step.

Reflection:

Imagine a fortress - impenetrable, unyielding. Now picture a mother bird, wings spread wide, sheltering her chicks. Psalm 91:4 remarkably combines these images to describe God's protection over us.

"He will cover you with his feathers," speaks of intimate, tender care. It's personal, warm, and comforting. Yet in the same breath, we're told His faithfulness is our "shield and rampart" - mighty defenses against life's fiercest battles.

This isn't just poetic language. It's a promise that addresses our deepest needs. When we're vulnerable, God's feathers cover us. When we're under attack - be it from doubt, fear, or external threats - His faithfulness stands firm as our shield.

Think about what you're facing today. Feeling fragile? Nestle under His wings. Fighting a battle? Stand behind His shield. God is offering you both tender comfort and unshakeable strength.

This is the nature of our God - gentle enough to hold us close, mighty enough to defend us against any foe. In His presence, we find not just safety, but home. Not just protection, but profound peace.

Today, rest in this truth. The God of the universe is your shelter and your strength. In every moment, in every challenge, you are seen, known, and fiercely protected by a love that will never let you go.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my shelter and my strength. Your love is so tender, like a mother bird covering her chicks, yet so strong, like a mighty fortress. I’m grateful that You protect me in such a personal and powerful way.

Forgive me for the times I’ve tried to face my battles alone. Help me to trust in Your care and to nestle under Your wings. Fill me with Your peace and remind me that in Your arms, I am safe, loved, and never alone.

Reflection:

Do you ever lie awake doing the math? The bills, the people you love, the thing no amount of early mornings can fix. Somewhere along the way, we started believing it all depends on us.

Then God says something that stops us: "In vain you rise early and stay up late." Not because your work doesn't matter, but because the weight of your life was never yours to carry. It was always His.

Here's what gets me. When Solomon was born, God sent the prophet Nathan with a name for him: Jedidiah, loved by the LORD. He hadn't built a single thing; he was a baby, and already God's beloved. Years later, he wrote this line. The gift isn't for the ones who finish; it's for the ones He loves, and He loved you before you'd done anything at all.

Tonight, when you lay your head down, remember that the God who set the stars in place is holding what you couldn't. You can let go, because you are loved, and you are held.

What am I lying awake holding that God never asked me to carry?

How would today feel different if I really believed He loved me before I did a single thing?

Dear Lord,

I've been living like everything depends on me. I say I trust You, then I lie awake carrying what You already told me to hand over. Some nights I'm so tired of holding it all.

You called Solomon beloved before he'd done a single thing. Thank You for saying the same over me, on the days I feel it and the days I don't. Tonight, when I lay my head down, hold what I can't. I'm Yours, and I'm letting go.

Reflection:

In our self-focused culture, the concept of losing one's life may seem counterintuitive or even alarming. We're conditioned to prioritize self-preservation, chasing after our own dreams and desires. But Jesus presents a radical paradigm shift, inviting us to a life of selfless surrender.

When we cling tightly to our own plans and agendas, we may find that life slips through our fingers. But when we release our grip, offering our lives as a living sacrifice to Christ, we discover the true essence of living.

Losing our life for Jesus isn't about self-denial for the sake of it. It's about aligning our hearts with His purposes, finding our identity and our joy in Him. It's about trading temporary pleasures for eternal rewards, knowing that our lives are secure in the hands of the One who gave His life for us.

This path of surrender isn't always easy, but it leads to a life of profound significance and unshakable peace. It's in losing our lives that we find them, in the most beautiful and transformative way possible.

Today, let's embrace the upside-down kingdom that Jesus invites us into. Let's choose to lose our lives for His sake and for the gospel, confident that in doing so, we will find life abundant and eternal.

Am I living primarily for myself, or have I surrendered my life and dreams to Christ?

Heavenly Father,

My heart truly desires to honor You, yet I find myself clinging to my own plans and worries. Help me loosen my grip on control and fully surrender my life – my dreams, my anxieties, my desires – into Your loving hands.

Transform my heart and guide me into the beauty of surrender, a life poured out in worship of You. Replace fleeting pleasures with Your unshakeable peace and the eternal joy found only in You. Have Your way in me, Father. All I am is Yours.

Through every uncertain step and clouded path, He watches over us with unwavering attention. Not from a distance, but right beside us, guarding each step with perfect care. While we sleep, He's awake. While we worry about tomorrow, He's already there.

This isn't just about avoiding falls—it's about resting in the arms of perfect love. Even in our darkest nights, even when we can't see the next step clearly, we're held secure by a Father who never sleeps, never grows tired, never looks away.

Reflection:

Imagine facing life's trials as a lone soldier on the battlefield. The odds seem stacked against you, the enemy relentless. It's a picture of despair...until you realize that you're not alone. Reinforcements have arrived, and not just any reinforcements—the God of angel armies is on your side.

Paul, the writer of Romans, knew this firsthand. Despite facing persecution and hardship for his faith, he boldly declared that no challenge, no opponent, could prevail against the power of God on our side.

When we're overwhelmed by life's giants – it's easy to forget who's in our corner. But Paul's words are a reminder that we are not alone. The same God who parted the Red Sea, calmed storms, and conquered death is fighting for us.

This doesn't mean we won't face battles or that our problems will magically disappear. It means we can face those battles with a God-given resilience and confidence. When fear whispers, "You're not enough," we can boldly declare, "If God is for me, who can be against me?

This isn't just a verse; it's a battle cry, a declaration of faith in a God who is bigger than any challenge we face. With Him on our side, we are overcomers.

The God who shaped galaxies and spoke stars into existence poured out a love so vast it encompasses every soul, yet so intimate it reaches every heart. In a world that constantly demands we prove our worth, here stands a love so radical it gave heaven’s most precious gift before we took our first breath.

When we read, “God so loved,” that tiny word “so” carries the weight of eternity: the depth of grace, the height of sacrifice, and the breadth of forever. God didn’t just love; He loved like this—to the point of giving His only Son.

Imagine the weight of the world pressing down on your shoulders. Worries, fears, anxieties - they pile up like heavy stones, threatening to crush your spirit. In Psalm 55:22, David, a man familiar with such burdens, offers a lifeline: "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."

"Cast" isn't a passive word. It evokes the image of throwing something heavy, a deliberate act of release. It's not about ignoring our problems or pretending they don't exist; it's about acknowledging we were never meant to carry them alone. God invites us to transfer that weight - the sleepless nights, the unanswered questions, the heart-wrenching decisions - onto Him.

And here's the incredible promise: He will sustain you. Not just rescue you, not just fix it all, but sustain you. Like a loving parent holding a child through a thunderstorm, He'll provide the strength, the peace, the courage you need to weather the storm.

Today, let's take that step of surrender. Name your burdens, one by one, and lay them at His feet. Feel the weight lift as you trust in His unfailing love and power. Remember, you're not alone in this journey. The God who holds the universe in His hands is holding you, too.

Please fill me with Your strength and calm my anxious heart. Hold me close when the storms of life rage around me, and remind me that even when things feel out of control, You are always in control.

Thank You for Your unwavering love that never lets go. I'm so grateful that I can lean on You, no matter what comes my way.

FENTANYL AWARENESS

💙 In Memory of Tanner 💙

In 2020, our family lost our precious Tanner to a fentanyl overdose. He was only 21 years old.

I’m sharing a link to Devastated: Colorado’s Fentanyl Disaster, along with this powerful awareness image. Although we do not live in Colorado, fentanyl does not recognize state lines. This crisis is devastating families in communities all across our country and beyond.

Behind every number and every statistic is someone’s person.

Someone’s son or daughter.
Someone’s brother or sister.
Someone’s grandchild.
Someone’s nephew.
Someone’s best friend.

For our family, that person is Tanner.

I do want to clarify something about the image: This is an awareness image that we are resharing. The ashes pictured are NOT Tanner’s, nor are they the remains of anyone personally known to our family. According to the original message on the image, they represent the devastating reality experienced by another family. I am sharing it because its message is difficult—but powerful.

Since losing Tanner, one of the ways we have chosen to honor his life is through Tanner’s Bible Ministry, sharing God's Word and providing Bibles free of charge to anyone who wants or needs one.

We want Tanner's legacy to point people toward Jesus, hope and salvation.

But I also believe part of honoring Tanner means telling the truth about what took him from us.

We have to talk about fentanyl.

We have to educate our children and grandchildren.

We have to talk about the danger of counterfeit pills and drugs that may contain fentanyl without the person even realizing it.

We have to remind people that addiction does not make someone disposable. These are human beings who are loved, prayed for, worried about and desperately wanted home by their families.

And sometimes, there isn't another chance.

If Tanner's story causes one person to stop and think…

If it causes one parent to have a conversation with their child…

If it encourages one person struggling with addiction to reach out for help…

If it helps save even one life…

then we will continue telling his story.

We cannot change what happened on December 3, 2020. We cannot bring Tanner back. But we can continue speaking his name, sharing God's Word, educating others and praying that another family might be spared the heartbreak that so many families now know.

“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.” — Proverbs 24:11

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

And the scripture that perhaps best represents why we continue:

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5

We will keep shining that light.
