Feline Community Network is a nonprofit serving NW Indiana, focused on building a community-driven feline resource center through education, spay/neuter, TNR programs, outreach, partnerships, & support for both cats & the people who care for them. 🇺🇸 NW INDIANA WE NEED YOUR NOMINATIONS! 🇺🇸

We’ve added something new to Paws-itive Purr-chases that has a mission behind it: Veterans Light Candles.

Veterans Light is a veteran-owned fragrance company founded by a U.S. Navy veteran, and 20% of their profits help support struggling and homeless veterans. Their candles are hand-poured in Illinois using a coconut-soy wax blend and come in some absolutely amazing scents.

We loved the idea of supporting a veteran-owned business that already gives back but we decided we wanted to take it one step further here at home.

From now through the end of the year, FCN will also give back from our Veterans Light candle sales to a Northwest Indiana veterans organization and YOU are going to help us choose which one!

We have several varieties of prescription food available that we would love to get into the hands of pets who currently need them.

Available DRY DOG foods include:

• Purina Gastro

Pickup is TOMORROW between 9 AM–4 PM in Hobart.

IMPORTANT: You must text us either a current prescription from your veterinarian OR your most recent receipt showing that your pet has been prescribed/purchasing that particular diet. 219-216-7568

Once you text required information we will confirm your script and give further information on pickup. Keep in mind these bags are considered damaged backs from distribution center and will be taped up.

These foods can be expensive, so if your pet is already prescribed one of these diets, please reach out. We want to make sure they go directly to families who can use them!

🌈 Today, we said goodbye to Carl.

Over the last couple of weeks, Carl had begun to decline. His quality of life was changing quickly, and even simple care like treating his ears or wiping his face was becoming uncomfortable and upsetting for him.

Today, we made the difficult decision to let him pass peacefully and with dignity.

We believe Carl lived much of his life knowing neglect. But in his final chapter, he knew something different, love, care, comfort and compassion. He knew that he mattered.

Thank you to everyone who donated toward Carl’s care, asked about him, and helped us give him the ending he deserved.

Hold your pets a little closer tonight. Carl was loved, and he will be missed. 🌈🐾

A $5,000 MATCH IS COMING!

We have been incredibly blessed with an amazing opportunity for FCN! Beginning Sunday, September 6 through September 20, every dollar donated will be MATCHED, up to $5,000!

That means if our community raises the full $5,000, it becomes $10,000 for FCN and the cats who depend on us.

And the timing couldn’t be better.

These funds will help us catch up on some of our past-due rent, tackle outstanding veterinary bills, and prepare for that dreaded September NIPSCO bill that we know will be showing up in our mailbox very soon.

We’ve had some challenging months, but we’re still here, still caring for our cats, still helping our community, and still building toward what comes next for FCN.

From September 6–20, your donation goes TWICE as far!

$10 becomes $20.
$25 becomes $50.
$50 becomes $100.
$100 becomes $200.

We’re getting SO close! Did you even know this existed? When you come into the gift shop there is so much more than what the eyes can see. 😉

Our clinic space is coming together, and we’re getting closer to being able to provide much-needed resources for our cat rescues and shelters across Northwest Indiana and hopefully soon, services for our community as well!

Imagine having this resource right in the heart of Hobart within walking distance for so many of our neighbors, conveniently located just east of I-65 and only a hop, skip and a jump from I-80/94.

But to make this vision a reality, we need help keeping the space.

As we negotiate our new lease and work toward the next chapter for FCN, we are looking for monthly sponsors individuals, families and businesses who want to help us maintain this space and bring the clinic across the finish line.

Every monthly sponsorship, big or small, helps us build something Northwest Indiana desperately needs. 🐾💙

We’re close. Now we need our community behind us to get there.

WE’RE GOING TO BE VERY TRANSPARENT BECAUSE WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY’S HELP.

As we negotiate our lease and make some big decisions about FCN’s future, there is one part of our building we really don’t want to give up: our garage/resource and medical space.

And we want you to understand exactly why.

The rent for that space alone is $1,800 a month, and utilities run approximately $600 a month. Yes, $2,500 a month may sound like a LOT of money. It is. But it is also 2500 sq ft custom-built to our needs!

But we also want to be transparent about what that space has allowed us to accomplish over the last three years.

🐾 THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of pounds of donated pet food, litter and supplies have come through those doors and gone right back out into our Northwest Indiana communities.

🐾 Our medical area within that space has helped us save the lives of HUNDREDS of cats who needed treatment, recovery, isolation and a safe place to heal.

🐾 And now we are working toward the next chapter developing that medical space into a clinic that can eventually become a resource not only for FCN, but for other rescues and shelters throughout our area & eventually the community.

That’s why we don’t want to walk away from it.

While we negotiate the lease for the other portion of our building, we are trying to find a way to make THIS space sustainable.

So we’re putting out a challenge.

Could one business, family, organization or generous donor step forward and sponsor the $1,800 monthly rent?

Could several businesses come together and split it?

Could we build a group of monthly sponsors who believe that keeping resources like this in Northwest Indiana is worth investing in?

This space has already proven its value. We aren’t asking the community to fund an idea that exists only on paper.

You’ve already helped us fill it with pallets.

You’ve watched those pallets go back out into the community.

You’ve watched sick and injured cats come through our doors and recover.

And now we want to take what we’ve built and make it even more valuable to Northwest Indiana.

We don’t want to give this space up.

We want to BUILD ON IT.
