Hinton FFA was honored to have two of our very own selected to attend this year’s Legislative Capitol Camp hosted by Oklahoma Farm Bureau!

Selected from a deep and highly competitive pool of applicants, these two students were chosen to be part of an elite group of juniors and seniors from across Oklahoma. They had a unique opportunity to experience Oklahoma government firsthand and are among the only youth permitted to participate in session activities on the Senate and House floors.

Students wrapped up their legislative experience at Capitol Camp with a full day of floor work in the House and Senate chambers. They spent the final day presenting their bills to their peers, asking and answering questions, debating the issues and ultimately voting on each bill.

In just two days, these students learned how a bill becomes a law, parliamentary procedure and how to confidently present and defend their ideas.

We are incredibly proud of these young leaders and thankful for the opportunity Oklahoma Farm Bureau provides through Capitol Camp. Congratulations Kaisyn Coats and McCrae Walden!

Congratulations to Makenna Smith for being named Caddo County’s All Around Showman!

Last week, Makenna was selected as the Champion Senior Swine Showman, qualifying her to compete for the prestigious Wes Stover Memorial All Around Showman title.

Last night, she competed against the winners from each of the other species divisions for the chance to earn the title of Caddo County All Around Showman and take home the $1,000 cash award!

Before the beginning of the premium sale, Makenna was announced as the WINNER and presented this mock check on behalf of the Stover family.

What an incredible accomplishment and a true testament to her hard work, dedication and knowledge across the livestock industry.

Way to go, Makenna! We are so proud of you!!

It has been a busy week for Hinton FFA with the Caddo County Livestock Show and the Hinton Free Fair!

Our students have been involved in so much more than the show ring. From Ag mechanics projects, plant and floral entries and other fair exhibits, our students have spent countless hours preparing, practicing and perfecting their projects.

The finished product is what people see at the fair, but what often goes unnoticed is the amount of time and dedication that goes into getting there. Early mornings, late nights, problem solving, learning new skills and simply putting in the work when no one is watching.

I truly don’t think our students always receive the recognition they deserve for the effort they put into being successful. These projects are about so much more than ribbons and placings. They are teaching our students responsibility, work ethic, perseverance, creativity and skills they will carry with them long after the fair is over.

We are incredibly proud of our FFA students and grateful for everyone who supports them throughout the year. Your encouragement, donations, sponsorships and support make these opportunities possible.
