Discover Huehue (Cocculus orbiculatus), a resilient native vine thriving in one of TMA's newest restoration sites. As a key component of Hawai'i's dry and mesic forests, Huehue climbs trees and shrubs to reach the sunlight. This amazing plant produces small flowers and dark berries, providing a vital food source for native birds. Its unique strength lies in its ability to weave through the forest, supporting the entire ecosystem. Stay tuned for ʻImi pono no ka 'āina's community workdays to support restoration efforts and help native species like Huehue thrive!

Meet Huehue (Cocculus orbiculatus), a remarkable plant found thriving among non-native grasses at one of TMA's forest restoration sites.

Huehue is a native vine that may be easy to overlook, but it plays a vital role in Hawaiʻi's dry and mesic forests. It vigorously climbs trees and shrubs, producing small flowers and dark berries that feed native birds and support the ecosystem.

Stay tuned for upcoming community workdays and events to help restore TMA sites where Huehue thrives!
