We provide all supplies for you and your foster animal, including food, crates, litter, toys, medications and anything else they need.
As a foster-based rescue, every animal gets to grow and heal in a real home instead of a shelter.
Each foster parent is paired with a mentor, and beyond that you’ll have an entire community ready to help (just read what our Doggie Brigade foster mama, Laurie, says about their experience fostering with A4A) and support you every step of the way.

💛FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY 💛

Meet Han Solo, the galaxy's sweetest copilot. 😻

One morning, in a little town not so far, far away, one of our foster dads stopped for coffee and noticed a woman holding a tiny white kitten covered in spray paint. While we don't know exactly what happened to Han before that moment, the sight was heartbreaking. There are rumors that kittens are sometimes spray-painted and used in cruel activities, though we have no way of knowing Han's history. What we did know was that he needed help.

After talking with the woman caring for him (and nearly running out of 7-Eleven without paying for his coffee!), our foster dad was able to bring this little guy to safety. That’s when Han’s journey to the light side truly began.💫

After a quick “decontamination bath”, Han powered down for a long nap. Upon waking, he snacked on some food, and with a full belly, he activated his cutest features: kneading, purring, and waddling across his food like he just made the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs.

Thanks to the wonderful team at Good Karma, Han Solo was neutered and is now officially ready to find his forever family! Despite whatever he endured before rescue, this little smuggler has a heart of gold! 💛🪙

We say it often, but we mean it every single time — saving lives in Hawaiʻi is not something we do alone. It takes an ISLAND! It takes 'ohana. And we are so blessed that Petco Love and the amazing team at Petco Hilo are part of ours. 💙

She is a happy, go-lucky girl with a zest for life that is unbeatable🐾💜

Princess Lei'a let's everyone know if she feels ignored with her signature pterodactyl squawk. Not a bark, not a whine, not a howl, but the most unique Jurassic squawk💜🐾😁.

Other than her primordial singsong, Princess Lei'a is a quiet dog who likes to play with her toys and hang out outside.🐾💜.

She loves to play with other dogs but can get rough. She might be best as a single dog with a person who would like her as a companion to go for long walks, car rides, and chill on the couch. 💜🐾

Princess Lei'a loves to snuggle and rub her belly on the grass. 💜🐾

Saving Lives One Flight at a Time

Hawaiʻi Island’s dogs are facing a crisis, and together we are rewriting their story.

So far this year, 105 dogs have already taken flight to safety through Pups Over the Pacific, a life saving program by Action 4 Animals Hawaiʻi. We were recently featured on The Beat Hawaiʻi, and the audio file from that segment is attached so you can hear more about the work being done to save these animals.

Every transport is a second chance.
On our most recent flight to Canada, Phoebe, Nala, Oreo, and Yogi traveled from the loving care of their foster families to rescue partners who will place them in permanent, adoptive homes.

This work would not be possible without the dedication of our Doggie Brigade lead, Lynn Morrison, who tirelessly coordinates the many moving parts that make this program run. From organizing fosters to managing logistics to ensuring every dog is ready for takeoff, Lynn’s commitment keeps this life saving effort moving forward.

We also extend a heartfelt mahalo to our amazing foster, Ashley Chung, whose support and outreach helped us secure the radio segment on The Beat Hawaiʻi. Her advocacy gives our dogs a louder voice and helps our mission reach more hearts.

But the need on Hawaiʻi Island is still overwhelming.
County animal control euthanasia rates remain between 65 and 75 percent, and every week more dogs need help finding a safe path forward.

How Pups Over the Pacific Saves Lives

Each dog we fly out receives vaccinations, spay or neuter, a health certificate, a travel crate, and air transport to trusted rescue partners.

It costs 450 dollars to fly a pup to the West Coast and 600 dollars to fly one to Canada.
Your support directly turns those dollars into lives saved.
