✨ Big things happening in the nation’s capital!
Hawaiʻi Community Lending leadership team (left to right) — Operations Director, Chanel Josiah; Finance Director, Sean Perez; Home Loans Manager, Erica Hanawahine and Executive Director, Jeff Gilbreath (not pictured) — joined the Opportunity Finance Network convening in Washington D.C. to share our story: who we serve, why we serve, and why Native CDFIs like HCL matter.

Mahalo to OFN and all the sponsors who made it possible to connect with funders, investors and like-minded CDFIs and Native CDFIs who believe in community-led finance 🌱🤝🏽

Networking. Storytelling. Relationship-building.
That’s how impact grows. 🌱

At Hawaiʻi Community Lending, our mission is simple: bring our families home. Through the Lahaina Homeowner Recovery Program, we’re walking alongside our lāhui—helping restore security, stability, and aloha to those impacted by the fires.

None of this would be possible without the incredible partnerships of the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, the Maui Strong Fund, and the County of Maui. 🤝 We are so grateful for the collective strength that makes recovery a reality and helps us bring our ʻohana home. 💙

🌱 Meet Riley Bond – Rooted in Lahaina, Growing Hope 🌱

Since the age of two, Riley Bond has called Lahaina home—and that connection has only deepened in the wake of devastating Maui Wildfires. Fueled by a passion to uplift the community, Riley took action at the legislature, submitting testimony on issues close to home.

Riley also serves on the board of a nonprofit working to reforest Lahaina through aloha ‘āina—removing invasives, planting native species, and helping people reconnect with the land as part of the healing process. What began as a grassroots effort is now a grant-supported organization in conversation with DLNR and the state for official land use.

With roots in the service industry and a background in teaching English to keiki in need, Riley returned to college to pursue early childhood education—then shifted to social work, driven by a calling to serve.

Now, as part of the Hawai‘i Community Lending ‘ohana, Riley brings that same dedication to helping families rebuild and return home. 💛
