Hoʻi, Hilo’s upcoming island-wide reusable foodware system, is hiring a General Manager.

This role will help launch and operate the system—overseeing washing and logistics, leading customer onboarding, managing staff, and guiding day-to-day operations as we gear up for a 2026 launch.

The GM will be employed by the selected global reuse service provider supporting Hoʻi.

Location: Hilo, Hawaiʻi

♻️ “There’s no recycling in Hawaiʻi County” — we hear this a lot during outreach, but the truth is more hopeful than that.

While it’s true that most plastics aren’t recyclable on-island, that’s not the full story. Hawaiʻi County does offer a range of recycling options — from HI-5 redemption and scrap metal to green waste composting, electronics, cardboard, and more. When combined with home composting and reuse efforts, a lot of our waste can be diverted from the landfill.

And here’s the thing — even in places where more plastics are collected, most of it still ends up in landfills or incinerators. So let’s focus on what does work, right here at home.
