What a fabulous day for the first island of the Hawai`i Ripple!! With 5 days notice we managed to get 30 women riding and 13 men! Plus 2 separate chase cars, one following the crew from each side of the island!
Our East side riders met in Hilo at 9 a.m. at the King Kamehameha Statue at Hilo Bayfront with the beautiful backdrop of our lovely mountain, Mauna Kea, for everyone to meet & greet, then a Hawaiian blessing of the bikes took place & we took a lot of pics before we rolled out at 9:30.
We had perfect riding weather, great road conditions, awesome road captains and everybody was in tune!
We met the riders from Kona led by Judy Moa in Waimea at the Parker Ranch Center and had a lot of fun getting together for pics in front of the cowboy sculpture!
We all rode together back to Kona & cruised Ali`i Drive back to the Kona Harley shop where we had the "official" baton pass!
We didn't get a banner to sign, so I got a big map of our island for everyone to sign to show where they came from today.
It was all over too soon, and we parted ways. Five of us and a chase car headed back to Hilo, and I made it home with just enough daylight to take the dog for a walk! My own personal total mileage from home today is 252, our East side riders from Hilo to Kona & back did 208 miles!
Our Kona riders left Kailua & put on 48 miles to meet us in Waimea, and after we all traveled back together we took a little cruise along Ali`i Drive which added another 8 miles coming home, so they did about 104 miles from point to point!
This has absolutely been the best riding day I've ever had on this island!
I'm so thankful for everyone who came out today! Many of the ladies asked if we're going to do this every year!! I said Yes! 😂
