Eating locally grown food is a wonderful goal—but knowing how to choose, prepare, and enjoy those foods is just as important. When you buy local, you’re often more connected to where your food comes from, how fresh it is, and the journey it took from farm to table. That connection helps build confidence in making nutritious choices for yourself and your Ź»ohana.

That’s why the DA BUX program partners with local chefs to provide hands-on training for nutrition educators. By building practical culinary skills and food safety knowledge, educators are better equipped to lead engaging nutrition education classes that inspire healthier eating—from keiki to kÅ«puna.

A heartfelt mahalo to Chef Paul Heerlein, CCC, CCE of Pālamanui Community College, our dedicated participants, Adaptations Food Hub, and the DA BUX team for making this training a success. Together, we’re planting the seeds for healthier communities through education and local produce šŸŒ±šŸ’š

Eating locally sourced foods is a wonderful goal—but what if you don’t know how to cook and prepare Ź»ulu? Or need to learn the knife skills to safely cut Ź»uala?

The DA BUX program recognizes that nutrition educators play a vital role in helping our communities enjoy more locally grown foods. That’s why we partner with local chefs to provide hands-on training that equips educators with the skills and confidence to lead safe, engaging nutrition education classes for everyone—from keiki to kupuna.

A heartfelt mahalo to all of our incredible participants, Chef Johnson, the UH Maui Culinary Arts Program, and our DA BUX team for making this training possible. Together, we’re building knowledge, confidence, and healthier communities—one local meal at a time! šŸŒ±šŸ’š
