Happy Arbor Day, Hillsdale! 🌳
What a beautiful morning at Meadowbrook Elementary — the whole school turned out to celebrate the planting of a new tree on the grounds, and the energy from the kids was something else.
This is part of something bigger: the Hillsdale Board of Education was awarded $66,050 through New Jersey's Trees for Schools grant program — part of a statewide effort that's putting over 4,500 trees in the ground at schools across New Jersey this spring. Really proud that Hillsdale is part of that.
A huge thank you to the Hillsdale Environmental Commission, led by Fred Rubel, for organizing today's celebration and for the important work they do tracking and advocating for our tree canopy year-round. And a shoutout to our DPW team for making sure everything was set up and ready to go — they never get enough credit.
Trees matter. They provide shade, habitat, help manage flooding, and make Hillsdale the kind of place people want to live. Here's to planting more of them. 🌿
