We provide luggage, essential items, and supportive programs so youth never have to carry their belongings in trash bags again — and never have to feel forgotten.

In 2026, our goal is to improve the lives of 1,500 youth through dignity bags, mentorship, literacy support, mental health partnerships, and our Beyond the Bag initiatives.

Have you ever heard of this legend?

Darryl DMC McDaniels — hip-hop pioneer, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, author, entrepreneur, and proud Ambassador of My Life In A Bag Foundation.

But his greatest impact isn’t just in music — it’s in purpose.

After discovering at 35 that he was adopted, Darryl faced one of the most difficult seasons of his life. Instead of staying silent, he chose to become a voice for children navigating identity, belonging, and self-worth.

That’s why his heart for foster youth runs deep.

Through literacy, advocacy, creative ventures, and empowerment, he continues to use his platform to remind young people that their story matters.

Today, we celebrate more than a legend — we celebrate a man of courage, healing, and purpose.
