"Cassie is honored to partner with her friend Amy Young, as director of 'Shrek, The Musical.' With a background, that spans set design, props master, hair and makeup, directing, as well as acting, she brings a full spectrum understanding of storytelling to the stage.
She loves the magical chaos of putting a show together-watching a giant pile of ideas slowly turn into a living, breathing world on stage. The process is loud, busy, creative, and occasionally messy (we are in a swamp after all), and a whole lot of fun. Watching this cast grow braver, and more confident each week has been the biggest reward.
But what makes this story, is its heart. At its core, Shrek is about outsiders-about the things that make us different, awkward, sensitive, weird or misunderstood. And right now, that feels pretty relevant. This show should reminds us that the very traits we sometimes try to hide, are often the ones that make us lovable and unforgettable. Different isn’t something to fix. It’s something to embrace. So, let your freak flag fly!!!
