This photo was taken one year ago today, but the story behind it began long before that.

Seeing it again reminds us of one of the greatest gifts in this ministry: volunteers who have chosen to keep showing up, week after week and year after year.

They have grown alongside this ministry. They have believed in the mission, carried it through changing seasons, and continued serving foster, adoptive, and kinship families with consistency and love. Some have even been part of this work for a decade!

That kind of longevity is one of the clearest signs of genuine community. Over time, volunteers build relationships, invest in one another, and become part of something lasting.

The strength of this ministry is found in people like these two, who have chosen to stay, serve, and grow with us.

We are deeply grateful for volunteers who do not simply help with what we do, but have become part of who we are. ❤️

Jesus told His followers that the world would recognize them by their love.

At Calvary Chapel Huntsville, that love is not simply written on a website or spoken from a pulpit. It is being lived out through generous, sacrificial service.

Their church family collected many of the items currently needed at the North Alabama Foster Closet. These gifts will help us care for foster, adoptive, and kinship families with dignity and compassion.

This is agape love: love that gives, serves, and steps into the needs of others without expecting anything in return.

Thank you, Calvary Chapel Huntsville, for being a beautiful reflection of Christ’s love and for joining us in joyful obedience to Jesus.

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35

The scoreboard will not show this win, but local families will feel it. ⚾️

Teams from Monrovia Parks & Rec collected and donated much-needed items to support foster, adoptive, and kinship families across North Alabama.

We are thankful for young athletes who are learning that being part of a team also means caring for the community around them.

Special thanks to Brandon Pruitt, coach of the Pirates, and to everyone who helped make this team effort possible!

North Alabama is more than part of our name. It is the community we serve!

Altoona. Athens. Gurley. Huntsville. Madison.

Today, six families from across our region walked through our doors! It was a powerful reflection of the North Alabama Foster Closet’s mission in action.

“Hidden gem.”

That’s what one foster mom called a special little bin of books we have at the North Alabama Foster Closet.

Each book covers something meaningful...emotions, foster care, or other big things children may be processing. And inside each book is a QR code that takes families to a video of a NAFC volunteer reading the story aloud.

Her 10-year-old loved it. Then asked to hear it again. That small detail stopped us in the best way, because sometimes what a child needs most is not just the right item, but the right moment. A quiet story. A safe voice. A reminder that their feelings make sense.

We are so grateful for a team that keeps thinking outside the box to support families in creative, thoughtful ways.

Families don’t need support just once.

They need support when a child arrives.
When the weather changes.
When a child grows.
When plans shift.
When a sibling joins the home.
When the next need comes.

We exists to walk with foster, adoptive, and kinship families through the ongoing, ordinary, very real needs of caring for children.

Not every donation is something we can photograph when it arrives. Sometimes it is a financial gift that becomes exactly what families need most.

This time, it became a cart full of diapers and formula.

Simple generosity. Immediate impact.

For six years, one faithful family has covered the cost of pest control for our property, helping us keep the Foster Closet clean, safe, and welcoming for the families we serve.

It is such a beautiful reminder that there are so many ways to support this work. Some gifts are seen immediately. Others quietly make everything else possible.

We are deeply grateful. ❤️

The Alabama heat has officially arrived! That means families are looking for swimsuits, towels, sunscreen, and all the little things that make summer possible.

Thanks to two days of donation drop-offs from Rivertree Missions / Rivertree Church, our shelves are now stocked with many of the summer essentials children and families will need in the weeks ahead. Pictured here are just some of the donations we received!

This is one of our favorite kinds of generosity. Not because it's flashy. Not because it's large. But because it's intentional. It says, "We thought about what families might need next, and we wanted to help." 🌞

Sometimes God’s timing shows up in the smallest, sweetest ways.

Last week, we received three Elmo stuffies. Today, a mom specifically asked if we had anything with Elmo for her child.

And there they were.

Waiting.

Ready.

A small red reminder that God sees the details. He knows the children. He knows the caregivers. He knows what will bring comfort, joy, and connection before we even know there is a need.

We are so grateful for the way God provides through generous hands, thoughtful donations, and timing only He could arrange.
